Depends. I've been disappointed with some sets that would be considered "luxury" based on TC and cotton variety. My favorite sheets by far are my 400TC Waverly sets purchased from BB&B for $100 10+ years ago. I have yet to find a set remotely close to them. (And I checked to see if Waverly still sells them and they don't.  )

I think I have the same waverly set and they are my favorite ones too.

I agree. Some luxury sheets feel amazing, some aren't worth the $$.

I bought a set off there and I was hooked! don't buy anything less then 600. I've never really felt much of a difference from the standard 250-400. 600 was great and 1000 is amazing! I have 2 sets of 800 that I use often, those have been washed a lot and are the softest.

i have a set of queen sheets that were luxury 800 thread count from fortunoff... no idea what brand, but they're the best sheets on earth and i almost didn't get a king sized bed bc i didn't want to part with sleeping on them!!
def. depends on the brand... as creepy as it sounds, make sure u feel them in a store, like bbb has the lil swatches you can feel. when u find the right ones, it makes such a difference!

yep! we always bought cheaper sheets and then when we redid our bedroom we splurged and bought 400 ( i think) thread count. We love them!! We could def tell the diference.

You can't always go by TC. I have 600 TC sheets that feel like sand paper.  TC here in the states is a big marketing ploy.

yes! amen, yes!
i buy them discounted at homegoods - i can't afford to just buy them retail but i get as quality as i can get for a good price. i just feel like we spend so much time sleeping and that bed should be a haven -- and since sleep is probably my favorite passtime/hobby lol i like to do it in style!

I think I have those too!
ITA that some are good and some aren't. I have some PB ones that are only 200TC which I was reluctant to buy and they are surprising soft.

absolutely.... but they changed something several years ago which allows some manufacturers to tout a high thread count, even though it's not the "same"...
Something about how they determine the thread count, so essentially, they are able to "lie" on the packaging.
Make sure you are getting a good brand and you open the package and feel them!!
