Have you mentioned this to your ped? Some of those characteristics are common to Aspergers/other spectrum disorders and especially sensory disorders. I would have her evaluated by a developmental pediatrician. Someth ing seems "off". Some sounds like normal pre school age stuff though. Sounds also though like your having a rough time...hang in there....its tough to be a Mom

First off,  : Being a parent is hard!
As an educator, I would recommend that you make an appt with your ped and ask for a rec for a therapist. If I were to dx your daughter, I would put her on the Autistic spectrum. All of the sensory issues fit this dx.

Thanks for your replies. I'm not sure what being on the spectrum means...and not sure if this is relevant but she has no developmental delays - never did. her "sensitivies" are not severe. In other words, she appears to be working through them, but obviously sometimes she get's upset and cries.
I am an autism consultant and agree with the PPs that mentioning these concerns with your pediatrician would be your first step.
It is called a spectrum because there are so many levels and combinations of these sensitivities. For some children, just some simple changes can make a huge difference...schedules, sensory activities, social stories, etc.
GL and don't ever feel like a bad parent. We all have our challenges and our children don't come with manuals, so all we can do is our best. Feel free to FM at any point.
eta: Just to address your comment/question...most children who have Asperger's don't have delays and have average to high IQs. They just have some difficulty with social skills and social language...and sometimes sensory processing.

I would def have her evaluated bc intervention at this time could be the key.like the previous posters mentioned this sounds like it can be something related to the autism spectrum but the fact that she is very aware of other peoples feelings is a really good thing. She also sounds like an extremely intelligent little girl! Either way you have to go to your school district bc you should be entitled free evaluations/possible therapy for her. This is not easy and you need support right now. Don't hesitate to reach out:)

ITA. you can also request a cpse evaluation through your school district's office for special education (this at the very least could rule things out for you or get a jump on addressing these issues)

I'm an SLP and I wouldn't rush to calling her on the spectrum. While it is a possibility, as I don't know her, I would first think it she is a highly sensitive child or a sensory processing disorder. Check out this link/book:

I don't have any advice, just want to send I know what it's like to have a "sensitive" kid to sounds and some other things (he cries). It's gotten a bit better, but is still a problem at times.

I would definetely bring this up to your ped. and contact the school district for an evaluation right away. The first thing that came to mind was sensory processing disorder. But it's also possible she could be on the spectrum. She definetely would benefit from services.

i'm going to be honest, it didn't take me very long to think that your DD may be on the spectrum. i have experience with working with children on the spectrum because of my spec ed certification. i highly suggest talking to your pediatrician about this. he or she will steer you in the direction you should go.
with that being said, your daughter may just have her quirks like everyone does. i hate to put ideas in your head, or imply there is 'something' about your DD, but by what you have written i think those are definite signs of something.

Reading this article, I can say this discribes my DD.
She was evalualted a year ago and qualified but has since completed her therapy and they signed her out of the program. Nobody mentioned highly senstive or Autism - just anxiety.
evaluated by whom? What therapy?
My son has some sensory issues and her's sound a bit more severe then his ( yet still "mild") ....He receives O/T for them and play therapy with a psychologist for his anxiety issues. It has worked WONDERS in a very short period of time.

I am no doctor , but I know a child with sensory disorder , I used to be his nanny for almost 4 years and what you describe sounds just like him. I would talk to a pediatrician and see what he suggests, print put what you posted here and let him/her read.
There is also a very good book the boy's pediatrician suggested reading:
