Bellmore/North Bellmore Residents?
Did anyone get the thing about the RAT infestation that we have? Its making me physically ill to even think about. Seeing a rat on the subway tracks makes me puke so if I find one in my yard, I can only imagine.
Apparently its from Stop and Shop on Newbridge & Jerusalem...
What do we do?!?! Even if we put the traps down, we don't wanna clean them out once we catch something...

ummmmm what?!?!??!?! RATS?!?!?!?! we didn't get a notice!! we live within a mile of that S&S. i will positively FREAK if i see a RAT by my house! did a notice come in the mail? i wouldn't even know who to call about that..TOH??

I got it in my mailbox but I think it was hand delivered. Apparently that's why they moved up the construction at s&s. They had such a bad infestation that they moved up the project! When they did close and remove all the food, the rats spread out in the surrounding areas in search of food. Which means they're all over our neighborhood. I got a thing from the health dept on how I should set up traps and blablabla but once I ytrap them what am I supposed to do?
I'm going to call my councilwoman tomorrow. I'm really upset!

i used to shop at S&S there when we lived in Bellmore, until i saw a RAT ... yes i saw one in the store. this was 2.5 years ago. last time i ever shopped there

I didn't know you lived there. my cousin lives literally 3 blocks from there and shops there all the time. Actually 2 of them do.
Is it from the S&S though or the huge thing they are building next to it.

I'm going to vomit at the thought of seeing a rat in there--I would've run out screaming.
Its probably a combo between the nursing home and the food store.
In any case, I'm calling TOH-Kate Murray's office now and Angie Cullen, who is our councilwoman.
I'll let you know what they say.

The town directed me to the Dept of Health. I spoke to someone there, she told me all of LI has a huge rat/rodent problem.
She also said if there is no evidence of rats on my property to not set up traps because that will draw them to my property. She also said that S&S isn't responsible and that they've been VERY compliant to town codes, etc.
I'm still scared.

i'm nervous that once it starts getting cooler are they going to try to get into our houses? the camel crickets we have in our basement are bad enough i do NOT need to be worried about RATS down there too.

yes, we had an apartment on lafeyette right by newbridge! i shopped there all the time until the "incident"
