Carpeting help

Went to Montauk carpet and looked around for carpeting for my bedroom.

I saw a bunch of remnants but they only measure a certain way. If I do get a remnant, is the installation and padding additional?

Is the price of carpet off the roll inclusive of that?

I saw some remnants that could work for about $400.

Some of the more moderately priced carpets off the roll could cost $900 for one room.

Is this about right?

We just bought a rug and we looked at Montauk. The price of the remnants did not include padding or installation. Also, the remnants at Montauk do not have warranties at all.

Check out G. Fried. They had a much better selection. All of their remnants have a G. Fried warranty (they don't have a manufacturer warranty but G. Fried still gives you some kind of warranty). Not sure how big your bedroom is but, we found a remnant there for our 15x20 room and with padding and installation, it was going to be around $900. If your room is over 12 feet in both directions, you're going to need a bigger rug if you want a remnant and the selection is minimal. We didn't get the remnant because the colors they had were either too dark or too light for us.

We bought a really nice Shaw rug. It's so soft and has super stain protection (which we need!!). They had the same rug at Montauk but I was able to haggle at G. Fried and got a much better price.
