Ours is in the back. It was originally in the front but we moved it. I didn't want to see the kitchen from the living room.

Mine is in the Back, its a colonial so it would be very weird if you opened the front door and the kitchen was right there.
Although i know someone with a huge house and when you walk in the kitchen is huge and right there, but it works for their size house

Mine is in back, but no one uses our front door, we use the side. So you actually walk right into the kitchen. I like this b/c the kitchen floors are easiest to clean, and we track a lot of sand in.

Back - I like it that way b/c when we build the deck the sliding door will go right from the kitchen to the deck ..........easy to watch the kids in the back and easy to entertain back there too

Kitchen in the back and we like it-I like the window over the sink that looks out at the yard. We have a door that goes out to the yard-I like that too.
We have an open floor plan so it opens into the family room-like that most of the time, except when I have dirty dishes.

Mi ne is in the back with a window over the sink. I like it there as I can watch the kids in the backyard while I am working in the kitchen.

I have it in the front but would prefer it in the back. I would love to be able to cook while DS is playing in the backyard. I cannot do that in our house.

I grew up in a house with the kitchen in the front. And I LOOOOVED it. I could peer in the windows to see if my mother was waiting up if I was sneaking in! I don't know - I loved being able to watch the street come alive in the morning, and turning the lights down and watching what happened at night. And my parents had a patio in the side garden off the kitchen - so it worked well for eating outside.
But now the kitchen we have is in the back and I honestly wouldn't want it any other way. It's right off the deck so when I entertain I can serve people from the kitchen to the deck. And I have a window to watch my kids while they are out back playing and I'm cooking or washing dishes. It's just really amenable to my current lifestyle.

I voted other. It's kind of in the front but kind of in the middle. The Front of the house is my dining room that you walk pass to get to kitchen...

My kitchen is in the back and I love it because I can over look the back yard, so my son can play outside and I can watch the neighbourhood cats, birds and other wildlife while washing dishes!

In the back middle I guess.
When you walk through our front door you go through our living room to our kitchen. But then you walk through our kitchen to get to the dining/sitting room. (It was an add on from a normal cape).

ours is in the front but i hope to put it in the back one day. However, that means i'd have to switch around the bedrooms and I'd much prefer a bedroom in the back of the house than the front.
