We have been going up to the White Mountains in NH and Killington VT for 5 years. I went upto NH as a kid all the time...We usually go Columbus Day weekend but this weekend we are going the weekend before....It is beautiful. We take a scenic train ride and see the fall foliage. We drove to Maine 2 years ago and went to the LL Bean factory. Couldn't go last year as I was almost 9 months preggo. We are going to go to Loon Mountain and go on the Gondola ride. I can't wait. Really missed it last year...

VT! Love it in the fall...although we didn't go last year b/c DD was born, and this year I'm sticking around in hopes my godson will be born

Growing up, we went every year to Kent Falls in Kent, CT. Cute tiny park with a covered bridge and small water fall with a walking (climbing) path to go up, grassy hill for playing, picnicing. Nearby cute little town with shops. Other covered bridges and falls near by. Not far, about 2 hours. Great day trip.
I went to high school in Kent!!!! It is such a beautiful little town. I think it was actually just voted best location in the country for fall foliage!
it has the cutest little bakery in town, along with an old time toy shop.
I just got dejavou reading this!   Like I think you posted the same thing when I mentioned Kent Falls years ago or something back in the wedding planning days!

We have a wedding in VA in October so that will be out "getaway". DD starts soccer this week so no other trips until the winter.
I want to go back to Ridin=Hy Ranch in the Adirondacks when there is snow. It was awesome!!

all these places sound great - i am a big skier and I never thought to go to the poconos to see the foliage on the ski lifts!!!
DH is teacher and hates going away for the weekend in the fall, so I usually visit my sister in VA for the state fair - their state fair is huge, with lots of foods/animals, etc. too preggo for it this year, but the baby and I will go next year!

We have a house in Cairo (near the Catskills) we usually go ....but not this year I will be way tooooo pregnant so maybe we will go for Thanksgiving.
That is so funny, my dh's family has a house there too...
Just curious though, do you go apple/pumpkin picking there? where do you go? DH uses that house basically for a sleeping spot when he goes hunting so I'm not that familliar with it and I don't think he would have a clue on where to go for family stuff either... He gets tunnel vision during hunting season.

Every fall we go away to DH's family's house upstate in Cairo NY.
We go away with the family and then again with friends.
I LOVE the fall.. and especially upstate in the fall!! We do all the traditional fall festivities!!
