baby shower - jack and jill
I was originally going to have a traditional baby shower, but I moved out of NY a few years ago and don't have a large circle of family and female friends where I live. I was worried about it being awkward since I felt like I would be inviting people just to invite them and fill a table.
We do have a good circle of friends that we are friends with as couples and we do have both our parents that live close by and a few other relatives.
So we are thinking of having a party at our home on a Saturday evening. It would be a celebration for the baby coming, but not a traditional shower - so no games, etc. We would have it catered so there would be lots of food and drinks.
Anyone have experience with a jack and jill type shower? any suggestions? How do you word the invitations so that the men will come and not be scared off thinking it is a shower?
Thanks in advance!!

Re: baby shower - jack and jill
my baby shower was jack and jill and we all had a great time. It was like a huge get together with friends and family.
We just recently went to a jack and jill and all of us had a great time as well.
it was pretty laid back. we didnt do any of the traditional baby shower games.
im not sure how the invites went out to have the men included in the shower but the baby shower i went to the invites were sent to us as a family. also word of mouth.

I think 'Jack and Jill' showers like the one you described are AWESOME b/c it's just a huge party to celebrate with everyone ........
I think Jack and Jill showers that are done like traditional showers are miserable - probably b/c I LOATHE baby showers and bridal showers and see no reason to make the men suffer through them as well .........
