Honestly can I find daycare cheaper for $285 a week ...
Is there cheaper daycare out there. At daycare center I was told $285 for 5 days from 8-6. I am always reading how daycare centers are the most expenisve!
I know SAHM who watches one other kid and she told me it would cost $350 a week  for 7:30 am till about 4:30-5 though she said we could discuss it I cant see her going down much further.
So can someone tell should i bother to keep looking will i even find anything for less than $285 a week fullltime?

i looked around and cant say i came across anything less than 375 a week full time. i send ds to daycare a day and a half a week and pay 600 a month (75 a day)
usually someone watching a child at home is alot less than daycare. i would definitely start looking around and asking references for people. i think the sahm who watches another child for 350 a week is overpriced - is her childcare legit (state certified cpr certified etc)
eta: ds daycare is 75 a day regardless of how long he stays there but the hours are from 7am to 6pm
my daycare just increased their rates. so now i pay 620 a month. im not sure how much 5 a week went up

The lowest I've seen was $250/week and that was out of a home. $285 seems pretty standard to me.

holy crap!! at one point i was paying 650 a MONTH for ds to be in day care only two full days a week!!
heck i'd take that 285 and run with it!
ETA: whooops, you said a week...sorry about that! (haven't had my coffee yet!  )

I think with the hours you need, $285 is a decent price.
I pay $220 at a center but she is there from 8:30 - 3:30.
If I picked up after 3:30 it would be $280 a week.
In home daycare centers may have more flexible prices. If you want a center, $285 is average.

I would keep looking at in home daycares. We pay $50/day (would be $250/week) and when I was calling different ones, thats the average price I was finding.

I am pretty sure the SAHM is not certifed. I thought it was a little overpriced which is probably why she said we can discuss it. I know her from when I worked at my part time job and my friend is friends with her and she told me tat she charges someone else $250 a week so i am a little surprised at the number she gave me but I also dont know the hours the other kid she watche goes!

This daycare I am pretty sure is just one flat fee from 8-6. I would not need them from 8-6 cause thats the price i was told and i was told it is $30 exra a week if I dropped them of earlier.

the school in fresh meadows queens was less than that a week.

i worked in day care for years. infant care is the most expensive, most day care will not do it part time, since those spots are hard to fill. going back 10 years when i worked there it was between 1300- 1500 a month. and i worked at a few day cares.
so if you can find anything for a thousand or less a month for full time care.. its a bargain!!!!

i paid 240 per week for 715 to 530. Now I pay 229 because he is older.

i don't have that kind of money for day care....i might just make my LO get a job
yeah seriously. . it's basically like handing over an entire paycheck. . I might be able to afford day care but food and phones might have to go!

hehe, trust me I know. I work at a daycare/preschool and all the time I wonder how we can charge parents sooo much and yet I get paid sooo little. Sometimes I feel like I would JUST be working to pay for daycare. That's one of the reasons why I think I'll be a SAHM and use my teaching degree to watch a few kids at home. As you can see - I could charge a lot

I send my girls to a licensed home daycare and pay less than 100 for 2 for a full day!!! and thats 9 hours!
they charge 50 a day for one I know. if you have more they give you a discount.
