Re: Am I being selfish? Need HONEST answers
Our DSs are the same age - how the heck do you get him to ride a horse!??!??!?
I'm in complete awe!
I'm all for it, if it works out.

Re: Am I being selfish? Need HONEST answers
Get back on the horse (literally)
He may be distracted if you're in the same area - especially at first but I think it would be great to see you doing something that he's doing.
I say go for it! It's not selfish to want & do things for yourself too. In fact, I encourage it!

Go for it Sophie!! You do so much for EJ that I think he would get a kick out of seeing mommy ride too. You deserve it. He will be busy anyway - so it isn't like you are taking time from him. I would say definitely go for it!

Do it Sophie!!!! Do it do it do it!!!! EJ *might* be distracted the first time or two that you ride separately but I'm sure he'll LOVE that you're doing it too!!!! And you never know, he just might PREFER that you not be "watching" him during his lesson - I was a shy shy shy kid at his age and just wanted to DIE when my parents watched me at any of my hobbies - dance, piano, karate, etc etc

it would be something you'd be doing "together" instead of you just sitting back and watching.

i don't think you are being selfish in the least bit...>BUT - you pose some good questions...would it be distracting, etc...
i would speak with his 'teacher' person there and ask those questions...letting her know full well you are okay with ANY answer she has...
ITA with this.

I don't think you are at all, and he might like riding with you. But I agree, it could also be distracting. I would ask his instructor what he/she thinks also.
If it's too distracting now, definitely a fun thing for you guys to do together when he's more experienced as a rider!

Re: Am I being selfish? Need HONEST answers
Thank you everyone! I don't know why a sense of guilt came through me.
It's not like I don't spend time with him. Gosh... our live revolve around him and at our own sacrifice most of the time!
I may want to compromise to every other lesson or so. I will see if that could even work. Because he is in a special program I can't ride through that program but since they are located out of a "regular" stables, I would have to take my lessons through them. I would have to work the logisitc and if it works, yes, I think I would love for him to see that mama can ride just like him, work from imitation, and something we can do together.
