Cereal/baby food question for 5-7 months olds
I can't believe its been only 2.5 years and i forgot some of this food stuff LOL. When starting a new cereal/food, how much do you give? I follow the directions on the box, which is one tablespoon for around an ounce of formula (or till I get the consistency we desire). It seems to be enough (she gets it 2x's a day), but wasnt sure if I should be given her more. Also when she start fruits and veggies, how much should I start with ? I mean if she likes something, do i give her as much as she'll take? TIA!

Re: Cereal/baby food question for 5-7 months olds
Here's my experience:
4 months - Only cereal 2x a day. I started with 2 Tbsp
A week later I added fruit for lunch. Only 1 cube (1oz)
At 5 months - breakfast: 3Tbsp cereal lunch: 2 cubes fruit dinner: 2 cubes veg
At 6 months - 4 Tbsp w/ 1 cube fruit 3 cubes (fruit/veg mixed) 3 cubes veg
It says on the box to increase cereal up to 4 Tbsp by 6 months.

Re: Cereal/baby food question for 5-7 months olds
Isn't it crazy how quickly we forget! I started Zoe off with 1 Tbsp of cereal and eyeballed the formula for the consistancy that I wanted. When we moved to veggies, I would offer her a Stage 1 container mixed with some cereal to thicken it a bit. She's not the best eater and it has taken her a loooong time to get the hang of it all. Now, at 7 months, I offer her stage 2 foods (fruits and veggies) and let her eat as much as she wants- but she usually finishes one stage 2 container at her feedings. We are only doing 2 meals per day with Stage 2. In a few weeks I will be adding in lunch and offering the same amount. I don't add cereal to the container unless it is super liquidy. HTH!

Re: Cereal/baby food question for 5-7 months olds
DS is 7 months and we just started solids at 6 months---I did what you did with cereal and then I added fruit at breakfast (usually mixed with cereal) and veggie for dinner. I started small--like a 1/2 container of stage 1, but after about 2 weeks he started to get the hang of it and I basically just follow his lead, if he wants more I give it to him and he lets me know when he is full. I don't think he has ever wanted more than a stage 2 jar.
