Frustrated & hoping for Suggestions.
Hey Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Thursday is my bday and DH and I are taking Thursday through Monday off and hoping to go away. The thing is....we didn't plan anything yet!!!!  DH wanted to go on an actual vacation but I didn't want to spend $2K bc we already are going on a cruise in November so I was thinking maybe Myrtle Beach or something close. Turns out, that alone is tons of money too by the time we pay for hotel, etc.
Does anyone have ANY ideas? I'm looking at hotels in the Hamptons and Fire Island and it's all overpriced. Has anyone stayed anywhere reasonable? We literally can't agree on ONE thing to do and were hoping to leave tomorrow night. 
Thank you so much in advance to anyone who may have any ideas or suggestions.

DH and I once did three nights in AC at the cheapest hotel we could find (it wasn't a big name hotel with casino, but it was only a block from the beach and near other big hotels).
Try looking at the Berkshires in MA. You might be able to find cheaper hotels up there. It is about a 3-3 1/2 hour drive depending on what part you visit.

If you're going to do a beach location, it's definitely going to be pricey.
ETS: Try looking into timeshare rentals.

How about Washington D.C. or Philadelphia? Tons of museums to check out and sights to see.
Check out Escapemaker and see about vacays within driving distance.
Or expedia usually has last minute deals.

What about the Finger Lakes? There's lots to do up there and lots of great wine tours if you're into that. Plus, it's absolutely beautiful!
If that interests you, I can FM you some suggestions on reasonable (but very nice) hotels. Last time we stayed at a great spa.

Go on VRBO.Com and see if you can find last minute weekend rentals anywhere where there is a beach within driving distance...what about Virginia Beach???

I agree, I went to College in Ithaca, great town. You can go on wine tours, go to the Ithaca Market, and hiking in the falls. Hotels are pretty cheap. The courtyard by the airport was nice.
