ABC Renews Rookie Blue for Season 2

ABC's Rookie Blue has been renewed, the network announced Monday.

The cop drama, which debuted three weeks ago, has fared decently in its time slot (Thursdays at 9/8c), second to So You Think You Can Dance on Fox. The show has been averaging 7.1 million viewers.

"We're very pleased that the show has connected with viewers, especially considering the challenge of finding an audience in the summer, and are excited to pick it up for a second season," said Quinn Taylor, ABC's senior vice president of movies, miniseries and acquisitions.

Rookie Blue will return to production later this summer in Toronto, though the network didn't indicate when the show might return after its first 13 episodes run.

Wow, I do like the show so far, but I'm surprised they decided to renew already! Especially after all the other shows that were cancelled last season that were way better. It's a bit on the cheesy side, with EVERY officer in the precinct better looking than the last..
