Bad mommy moment with PSA
Yesterday, when I put Anthony down for his afternoon nap, he slept for about an hour and then started crying. I kind of ignored it at 1st, thinking it was a nightmare or something - I could tell it was a "sleep cry". After maybe 10-15 minutes of this I checked the video monitor to see if maybe his foot or arm was caught in the crib. He was curled up and nothing looked off, but I went into his room to check anyway. I picked him up and he started wailing. He was grasping his stuffed animals as usual - He is ALWAYS holding at least 1 stuffed animal, sleeping or awake. Nothing was caught, no fever, no bumps, bruises, etc... I was He was still 1/2 asleep and was reaching for his bear, so I put the bear in his crib with him and watched the monitor again. He rubbed his eyes, went back to sleep and started crying again in a few minutes. Now I just figured that maybe he had a belly ache or something (he had hot dogs for lunch). Slept again for another 1/2 hour - starts screaming again. I had finally had enough and went to get him, even though he was obviously exhausted. As soon as I pick him up he wailed again. I was worried he hurt his back somehow. I bring him downstairs and went to take his sleep sac off (he is hysterical at this point) when I see the problem---
Somehow he managed to get his finger intertwined in one of the tiny threads in the stuffed animal's foot. His finger was all black. It was so tight, I could not pull it off. I tried with the tweezers and he went ballistic. I was ready to bring him to the ER when I remembered the tiny eyebrow scissors I had. Luckily, that did the trick and I got it off. Thank heaven his finger started to return to normal. I was scared he would loose it or something. It looked bruised for a while but was fine after a few hours.
I have read it on here a few times about if the child is crying uncontrollably for no apparent reason, to check for hairs or strings wrapped around appendages, but I honestly didn't even think of it at the time. So the point of this long azz post was to give another reminder.

Oh man, poor Anthony! That's not a bad mommy moment, there is no way you could have known. I am glad he seems fine, thanks for the PSA

Oh D that is so scary. I can't imagine how freaked out your must have been. Im so glad that Anthonys little finger is ok.

I know, I just feel like crap because I kept putting him back down.  Sometimes you just get so desperate for that nap time... I feel like if I wasn't so selfish I would have got him sooner and he wouldn't have been in pain for so long

Something similiar happened to my friends daughter. She had a hair wrapped around one of her toes. Thanks for the PSA

Thankfully, he's okay. You're not a bad mommy at all, there's no way you could have known..babies cry all the time for so many reasons!

All that matters is that he is ok, and you did figure it out. I read it on here once and still now that is one of my biggest fears that i wont realize or think of that. Why would you have.

try not to feel bad about needing that nap time - sane mommies are better than crazy mommies, you know?
And it's thanks to posts like these that I'm very cautious with my hair and DS because I shed like a wild animal and it's just too easy for something to happen.
I'm glad your DS is okay.
