No playroom. All of his toys except one are in the living room. I hate it, it's so cluttered, but that's where we all hang out. he's too young to play alone in his room.

Same here!!!

EVENTUALLY....DS will use the finished basement as a playroom!! I Shall soemday get my livingroom back!

Re: Those who don't have toys in DC's bedroom

DS has toys in our living room and playroom. In his bedroom are books and the occasional toy which he brings to bed with him that night. I try to keep it minimal otherwise bedtime storytime becomes about playing and is harder than when no toys are involved!

Re: Those who don't have toys in DC's bedroom

My whole house is a playroom, LOL. We don't have a playroom. DS's toys are mainly in our living room where we spend most of the time. He has his toy chest and exersaucer in our office. I keep a few toys in the dining room to entertain him during dinner. We keep books and stuffed animals in his room upstairs.

Re: Those who don't have toys in DC's bedroom

There are absolutely NO toys in DDs' room. All toys are in the playroom and in their closet. No toys left out in their room because Mads piles everything in Eliza's crib at night.

Re: Those who don't have toys in DC's bedroom

I have toys in Laila's room, but we also have a bunch in our living room. We have a little bookshelf that has 2 canvas drawers for small toys, and a canvas toychest from One Step Ahead. Also her kitchen.

We don't have a playroom.

We're pretty good about moving all of the toys that she doesn't use into the basement.

As a mom-to-be, may I ask what the reasoning is behind no toys in the kids' rooms? I thought thats where they would all go! LOL we will have an extra room that we COULD make a playroom if we wanted to, but I didn't think we had a reason to - so tell me!

I guess it depends which floor the bedroom is on. My kids have bedrooms on the 2nd floor and are too young to "go play in their rooms" and I'm not sitting up there - nothing would get done.

Kate, you've seen my playroom. Ryan has a crib and a dresser in his room - it's quite boring up there Chat Icon

I think that a lot of people feel that the bedroom should be for sleeping and not playing....

Or thats what I thought anywayChat Icon

Re: Those who don't have toys in DC's bedroom

I have a nook off my living room area so I made a play area for Aiden there where most of his toys are kept. I have a box and bookshelf with more toys in his room. Now that it's summer some of his toys are going outside Chat Icon

We have a big playroom....its the 4th bedroom that was an attic converted to a home office from the previous owner. All the walls are built in closets and shelves!

For us, DS has way to many toys for his room!!! LOL It worked when he was little but not anymore -- his toys are bigger and he has about a billion cars/trucks. he would never go to sleep if he had all that stuff in his roomChat Icon He keeps some of his books and some stuffed animals in his room. And of course, we still have some toys in the living room because thats where I am mostly and things migrate there.

all of her toys are in her playroom, but we usually bring a bunch into the livingroom to play with (and, ideally, put them back in the playroom when she goes to bed).

In her room, she has a bookcase that has books (big shocker lol) and a couple of random toys. But, we're rarely up there. We have a little basket of toys in our room, too, for when we want to hang out in bed longer and need to preoccupy the kid Chat Icon

I think it depends on the layout of your house. DD's room is upstairs, so like another poster said, unless you plan on spending a ton of time up there, toys in the bedroom isn't really going to help until they are older.

I will say - now that DD is in a twin bed, having a few toys in her room is key - when she gets up in the morning she can occupy herself for a good 30-45 minutes before she starts yelling for me.

We don't have toys in their rooms (just books) - we keep the toys in the basement in closets.
