Nipple Questions
1 - How do you know when to switch from a Slow to fast nipple?
DS just went from slow to fast in the Playtex Drop-in's but he's been spitting up, which he never used to do. Is that normal when going from slow to fast? Is it a sign he should still be using the slow one??
2 - How do you know when you need to replace a nipple?
The slow nipples I've been using have been since DS came home and he's 7 weeks now. Are they done?

I moved from slow to medium when DS was taking FOREVER to finish a bottle. He was about 3 1/2-4 months (he had been sick with a stomach virus or I probably would have tried to switch him closer to 3 months.

DD is almost 5 months..we are still on slow flow. Medium flow is too fast for her.

We moved up when DS starting getting mad and pulling away while he was eating. We didn't know what his probalem was so we tried going up a speed and he seemed happier.
I'd try going to medium before fast though - when we went from med to fast at first he was dribbling like crazy and getting upset about that so we went back for a few days and then tried again.
We also still have him on Medium for his last bottle of the night b/c when he was that tired, it seemed like the fast was too much for him.
We've never replaced a nipple - I don't know how to tell if I need to - but he's been biting on them a little now, so I'm guessing I may need to before he goes off bottles.

With slow it was taking DS 30-45 min to finish a botlte and he started falling aleep while we were feeding him. He'd wake up famished but the pattern would continue. He's been OK with the fast nipple..just spitting up more...i think he goes too fast and over-fills himself if that makes sense.
Maybe I'll try the medium flow.
