Fort Salonga or Kings Park. I grew up there and love the area, love being near the water and convienant to parkways, good school, I just love it in general!

off the top of my head, Amagansett.
have only visited briefly during a drive to Montauk, but i LOVED that town. 
i'm sure there are other towns/neighborhoods, but right now, i'm happy where i am.

Commack or Smithtown
I grew up in Commack and I love the area my parents are in. I work at night at Smithtown so It would be great to live close to where I work.

I LOVE wher I live in huntington, real close to the village! But I wish I could live on a cul de sac in the West Neck area! I will never leave huntington, only to go to our vacation home in Montauk!

Definately Fort Salonga. I also grew up there and can't wait to get back. We plan on buying my parents house in a year or two, hopefully it'll work out .

Sayville - I have always wanted to live there. I love the town, love being close to the water.
I rented an apartment there for 3 years and plan on hopefully going back to live there some day.

In Suffolk I'd want to live in Cold Spring Harbor or Northport.
In Nassau, I'd want to live in Brookville or Oyster Bay Cove.
I just love those areas! The houses and the areas are just beautiful! And they have excellent schools.

There are so many neighborhoods that i like but i think all other factors aside (commute, affordability etc) I would choose Cold Spring Harbor.

I'd love to stay in my general area, but get closer to the water. My choices are:
Oyster Bay Cove
Cold Spring Harbor
Laurel Hollow
Mill Neck
If it wasn't by water, I'd chose
Upper Brookville
Jericho
Syosset

If I wanted other places it would be:

Roslyn

Love Sag Harbor but couldn't deal with the summer crowd out there. Like it where I am in Manorville although not as 'country' as it used to be.

Reasonably? Malverne (where I grew up), RVC, Garden City.
If I won the lottery but DH continued to commute -- Manhasset, Jericho, Brookville, Oyster Bay Cove, Center Island... (ok stretching it here)
If I won the lottery and DH stopped working all together --- an apt. on upper west side NYC and a house in Mattituck, or similar...

We're in Sayville and I like it a lot - especially since my commute is only 4 miles. If money and work were no object I'd seriously consider the North Fork wine region, or Southampton area.
