Who would your pets go to if the worst happened?
I was talking to someone about this today and realized that I have to contact Ginger's rescue organization to see if they would take both my dogs, God forbid we both died.
The closest to family that I would consider is my sister but she already has 1 dog and seems overwhelmed with him at times.
It would be sad for them to lose everything and everyone they've known, but I feel like finding new owners that would give them the kind of love and care we give them would only be accomplished through this rescue.
Have you ever thought about this, or cleared it with any of your friends or family? I keep thinking how terrible it would be if my dogs wound up in a shelter.

oh that is so scary to think about. I think if something happened to me my bf would still care for him. If something happened to both of us probably my mom.

If something happened to my DH and I then my dog and two cats would go to my sister and dad. Such a scary thought that has never crossed my mind.

i would think that one of our family or friends would take our animals in... everyone in our lives are VERY VERY animal friendly

I think my brother and his wife would take my bird and my parents would take my dog. If for some reason my parents felt unable to care for the dog depending on their health at the time the breeder would take him back. She would either keep him or find him a home. I would worry more about my bird if my brother and his wife decided they didn't want him.

DH and I were talking about this and honestly we have no idea where they would go. I know my mom would take them in a heart beat but my step dad is highly allergic. My sister has a dog and my dad is too immature he would end up tormenting them. Last hope would be my inlaws.

I've discussed this w/my parents & best friend.
They are all willing to take both dogs or separate them if Bruno can't be bothered w/Vito anymore (he's getting older & acting pretty cranky w/him).

I always think about this when I go away and tell my mom she will take one and my in laws will take the other, because there is no way I would trust anyone else with them and our parents are older, so they would have get one each.

As much as i hate to think about this I can say that Petunia (my pug) would definitely go to my parents. They absolutely adore her. As for Jefferson (rabbit) since I adopted him from the Long Island Rabbit Rescue, he would have to go back there.

My parents have already said they would want our dogs if something happened to us. My ILs would also want them. We just discussed this recently for some odd reason. My parents LOVE LOVE LOVE my dogs.
Our families love our dogs as if they were our children, well, b/c they are our babies.

I'm glad to hear you all have ideas! I would absolutely solidify them with the people you chose and/or rescues if you haven't already. You think they would take them, but it would be responsible to make sure. 
I know it's not something we like to think about, but after we're gone it would be too late. I saw so many stories on the tv show Dogtown where they wound up in shelters because none of the family members stepped up.

Mine would go to my parents, if they weren't around I'd ask one of my aunts if they could take him. If not, I have some acquaintances from the rescue group who also rescued dogs from them, and I'd ask one of them.

Most likely my cat Hades and my 4 birds would go to my ILs. Hades loves it there at their house and already has food and a liter there for when we stay over with him.
We are the next of kin for DH's aunt's amazon parrot. Her children don't want him, and the bird has always loved DH.

I would assume my mom or MIL would take our cat in if something happened to both DH & I.
They are both big animal lovers, so I couldn't imagine that neither of them wouldn't take him.

My parents would take my dog in a heartbeat. They adores him and watch him whenever we're away.
His breeder also told me that in the event that we couldn't keep him (which I assume would incorporate this type of situation) that she would take him back. It's actually in his paperwork.

My parents are dog lovers however they have no idea how to properly raise a dog. All Dallas's expensive training will go right out the window. Oh well, he'll be loved. I know they would take the little guy.

Luckily my mom wanted to be a vet growing up so I know they would take Disney in. ILs have never had a pet other than a turtle, but I think they would also take her in.

Considering my in laws refer to my dog as THEIR dog, I am sure they would take her, as would my parents, or my brother, or any of our friends. She's a sweetie so everyone loves her!

My friend will take my dog. She loves him and always watch him for us when we go away.
My father will definitely take him if she couldn't take him.
