I'm looking into this too! Did you try Vistaprint? they have good prices & you can usually find a coupon code online.

I bought cardstock with crosses embossed on them from Michael's and printed them myself...less than 40 bucks if I remember correctly. And they came out pretty nice. Nothing fancy. No photos. But when you use a nice font I think it does the trick.

Re: Did anybody not spend $100 on their christening invitations?

I bought a kit from michael's and printed them out on my own and embellished them. I used a coupon too.. They came out gorgeous and the kit for 50 invites was only 29.99 before I used the coupon.

they were tea length and came with a pocket and embellishment that I bought for extra (a few bucks total)

as for my other two kids.. I did them myself as well.. used pochettes for DS's and embellishments. The other two came out to around 100 to make them but I also sent out around 100 or so invites.

Google vistaprint 80% off and you can do them on cardstock and they will be failry inexpensive.
