Re: Who will go see United 93?

I've already posted that I will not go. To me it seems like it was just yesterday. I think the wounds are still too fresh for a movie to be made about 9/11. In fact, I don't think there would be any right time for a movie to made about it.

I can't even watch news clips from that day; I can't imagine watching a movie. I can never forget what I saw and heard that day along with the waiting to hear about friends and families for days afterwards.

All I can do is gently remind him that I and soo many others were in Manhattan on 9/11. I wondered if my friends who worked at WTC (or boyfriend at the time) was alive or dead. I wondered what the hell was happening in our country and if ANY of us were going to make it out of NYC alive .... I felt cut off from my family, my friends, the world .. and I was horrified, like we ALL were.. I can go through that day minute by minute and feel as though it was happening to me this very second !

This is EXACTLY how I feel about that day. I will not go see that movie. I don't have any problem with it's being made, in fact, I think it's good that it has been but I remember that day too well. It will be years before I can watch it.

I won't see it. As many others have pointed out, a movie does not need to be made to ensure that we won't forget.

I really do not understand the "never forget" argument. Who the hell can ever forget that day?????????

And if you are born after it, it will never have the same impact. Who in our generation is emotionally effected by Pearl Harbor or Vietnam? I know my dad can easily get emotional about Vietnam but I can't.

I don't have an issue with the film being made. People can either go or not. I am sure that even after all these years the movies about Vietnam and WW2 still bring up some pretty raw emotions for those that lived it.

I do agree that using the "never forget" argument to influence people to see it is a bit short sighted.

I would like to add that while I'm sure that I don't get as emotional as those that lived in the times of WWII and Vietnam, I certainly do get emotional when talking about them. Especially, considering the current political climate.
