MMR/Chicken pox vaccine at one year? Edited with another question...

Any other doctors recommend this? My ped office does this...I don't know if the few months until 15 makes a huge difference, but still.

Did anyone have their DC get these shots at 1 year? TIA!

ETA: Another question- what was their reaction to the two shots at once? TIA!

Re: MMR/Chicken pox vaccine at one year?

My dr recommends both at 12 months.

DD is getting the MMR at 12 months and her 3rd hepatitis shot. They were out of the hepatits shot at her last appt.

We are waiting until 15 mths for the chicken pox b/c I don't want her to have to get 3 needles. 2 is enough...it breaks my heart to hear her cry.

My ped doesn't give the MMR/Chicken Pox at 12 months, they do at 15 months.

I wouldn't have had a problem if it was 12 months. BUT I knew I was going to split the two. I didn't want to give both to her at the same time.

I asked my sister (the Ped) her opinion and she said if I was giong to split them at 12 months, I should do the Chicken Pox first and then the MMR at 15 months.

But as you know in NJ, the mandate for kids in daycare is MMR by 15 months and Chicken Pox by 19 months. SO.... with that said, DD just got her MMR last week and I told the ped I wanted to wait until her next appointment to do the Chicken Pox and they were perfectly fine with that.

My ped does them separately by 1 month - so he does MMR at 12 months and Chicken pox at 13 months.

My ped has no objections to giving it at 12 months, but prefers 15 months. DS got both MMR and chicken pox vaccines at the same time and had no reactions. I was surprised by that. He usually gets a fever with most of his shots.

Re: MMR/Chicken pox vaccine at one year? Edited with another question...

I did the chicken pox at a year and the MMR @ 18 months. I felt more comfortable separating them for my son. (Ped did not have a problem with it ~ She knows how I feel about vaccine's ~ I am not against vaccine's I just don't like giving so many at one time)

My Ped wanted to give chicken pox & mmr in same visit...

My ped doesn't do the Chicken Pox until 1 yr and the MMR at 18 months. They both can give a bad reaction so I would not give them both at the same time.

Both DD and DS had a bad reaction to the Chicken Pox and DS had a really bad reaction to the MMR. I can't imagine if I gave them both at the same time how sick they would be.

No reaction...and I watched that boy like a hawk but thankfully nothing...just a good nap that day from the drama of the needles.

Re: MMR/Chicken pox vaccine at one year? Edited with another question...

My peds office will do both or you can delay the MMR with no issues. I personally would never give my ds or dd two live virus shots at once.
