Here in the NYC metro area it's not easy to forget, but I was STUNNED when family members from the midwest told us that we need to "move on, it's not that big a deal. New Yorkers act like you were the only ones attacked." Chat Icon

i think i would have taken a head off after that one. the nerve. over 3000 lives lost is a big deal and we can't juts "get over it." what is with people?

Chat Icon

we can't get over it.....but we need to live our lives...

and i agree with the statement that this didn't happen to just us....

i agree, but to say that its no big deal is just appalling

I can't even watch the commercial, it is just too sad, there is no way I can do it.

I don't think I'll ever be able to watch it. Chat Icon

Re: Who will go see United 93?

i would just not like the fact that a majority of it is fiction...

i mean yes they got the black box stuff...
the phone calls...
but a movie that really doesn't make IMO

I will not go see it in the movies...maybe one day I'd rent it...but, for now that day still seems like yesterday and I will never forget seeing the planes crash into the towers and all of the horror that followed.

I"m going to be the minority opinion here and say yes., I plan to definitely see this film. I'm not exactly sure why but for some reason I do feel it necessary to see, I think it helps me deal with the entire situation. I lost someone on 9/11 and for me, it would help. I can certainly understand people that don't want to see it but I'm sure there anre others out there that want to. I watched the film on this flight on I think A&E (I could be wrong on the channel here) and cried for the entire film but somehow it helped me deal. I know that may sound weird but just my thoughts on this.

Personally I don't want to see it.

There are people across the country that don't feel the hurt the same way we do here in NY. In a weird way, maybe the movie will open the eyes of people in the midwest and anyplace else to what a tremendous tragedy it was, and still is.

i was there and watched the 2nd plane hit from TWO blocks away and ran for my life. i lost my friends in it. could i forget that? NEVER. do i need a movie to "entertain" me about it? NEVER. i miss my friends and would rather no movies to remind me of the worst time of my life...

Re: Who will go see United 93?

I don't think I could watch the movie. After the first year I stopped watching the memorial. I can't watch that footage again. What happenned on flight 93 is still a mystery. I am really not interested in seeing a movie about it. Maybe eventually I will, but I just don't feel the need to right now.

I actually feel the same way. Dh thinks it will be too emotionally draining but we will have to see. I might just end up renting it if I can't get him to go as this is not one I would even consider going alone to. I know I will need his hand to hold onto.
I didn't actually watch any of the "made for TV movies" but I did watch most of the specials that were on about it (like 20/20, 60 minutes, etc.). When those other movies had come out, it was too soon for me. It is now 5 years later and I am ready now.

Re: Who will go see United 93?

My DH barely escaped with his life....in fact he was reported dead for a few hours because no one from his job could contact him. He was down there for a month for clean up and recovery, we do not want to see a movie about that day, there is no way we could ever forget.

Reading this post is making me cry. I think I have some type of post traumatic stress disorder from 9/11 (I was also downtown that day). So no, I would say I will not be seeing this movie. Does anyone know what they will be doing with the profits from this? I really hope they are donating them. I would have researched this but the whole thing just upsets me too much.

Re: Who will go see United 93?

I'm also going to differ here, and say yes.

Personally, I don't know too much about flight 93, but I know those people were heroes. Of course, I cried like a baby while watching the previews, but I was captured, so to speak. I was drawn in, and I wanted to see the whole thing.

I may go the night it opens.

Re: Who will go see United 93?

Probably not. I don't need to see the movie to remember what happened. I also don't really like recreation-type shows or movies, even on television.

Re: Who will go see United 93?

No. None us will ever know what really happened on that flight; I understand that the writers & actors are trying, but I don't see how it's possible for them to even scratch the surface of how those people felt and what they went through. I almost see it as insulting to those passengers.

Re: Who will go see United 93?

No Way....I will never forget 9/11 Dh worked in 2 World Trade and was able to get out. We lost two very good friends (FDNY, and Cantor Fitzgerald) ...I don't need any movie to remind me of the horrors of that day.

I scold Hollywood for making this movie. I really hope that it flops miserably!
