My dilemma.....

I am very torn about having a vbac....I've found a practice and hospital who does it. I sent my op report to them and they have determined that I am a canditate for a vbac...However, they said I have a 60% chance failure because I never went into labor with Adriano (I had a csection at 39 weeks) I like my current doctor a lot (he delievered DS) and I am SO happy with his work. (my scar is barely visible!)
I don't know much about this new doctor except that she came with the recommendation of a colleague at work.
(she had 2 csections with them and seemed happy)
If I have to end up having a csection I would be more comfortable with my current doctor since I am so p;elased with his work. I don't know what to do!!!!!! 60% as a "failure" rate is pretty big and let's not forget the 1% chance of uterine rupture. I am also appreghensive about all the "what ifs" that can happen. Let's face it I was a chicken the 1st time around, I would be bound to have reservations this time around.
My BIGGEST motivation by far for having a vbac is that I want to have a third child and my current doctor said he does not recommend having 3 csections. Other "concerns" also include the facts that I don't want to be stapled and I don't want any pitocin. So with all that said, please share your thoughtswith me, specially if you've had a vbac or a 3rd csection....I am very torn....Thanks so much!

Here is what I think. I think that the fact that the doctor is already telling you that you are goign to have a high chance of failure is NOT GOOD.... and doesn't look like they will be the most supportive provider for a Vbac if you so desire one. I don't understand how they can say that you have such a high chance of failure because you didnt go into labor when they never let you go past 39 week with your first baby. Most first time moms go AFTER 40 weeks... SO I think that is an unfair assessment.

What would I do if I were in your position? I'd find either a midwife group with really good OB back up or a VERY proactive OB group that was Positive during the initial consultation and find an AWESOME doula for when you are in labor.

I'd try and go for natural labor since most physicians won't allow pitocin during a VBac for increase risk of uterine rupture....

Ok, I just had my 3rd c-section 2 weeks ago. It was the most positive experience I've had. I had little to no pain at all. I was walking around the maternity floor by 11 the same night. I asked my Dr would there be a problem if I had a 4th child? She said absolutley not, my scar tissue from 1 and 2 were minimal. Like you I have a barely there scar too. I did though, have staples and pitocin. The pit worked wonders though, barely there bleeding (and its stop completley now), and no cramping.

I can't really weigh in much on vbac as I have no desire to try one

But I will say that "my" OB is perfectly fine w/ my 3rd being a c-section ( God willing) and said that he does not limit the amount of c-sections, so I guess it all depends on which OB you ask

I have had three c sections and it is not bad at all and i also had them close together rahter than the 2 yrs they tell you to have them apart. my DS is 2 1/2 my DD is 13 months and my DD is two and a half months... and we want a fourth so my doc told me that i have to at least wait a year until i even get pregnant again... hope this helps.

I couldnt have the vbac bc the time of birth and conception of the other babies were too close together or else i wanted to try but i couldnt and i dont regret it at all
