Does anyone NOT temp??

This is out of total curiosity...

If you don't temp, what methods are you using??

I bought the OPK and I plan on using that with the "calendar method", especially for the first few months of trying (since literally we're starting month number 1 once my AF finishes today or tomorrow.

Jen, my AF has always been somewhere from 28-31 days so I just kinda winged it by counting days and checking my CM....I got pg the first time within 3 months doing this (ended in m/c) and now after 2 months of trying again I just got a BFP.

I figured I would do this first and if it didn't work I would try other methods. I would say to try what you think is best for you. Best of luck

i don't temp. i just count days and use OPKs.

I did when I first came off the pill but I quickly found that I was not ovulating.

Now I see an RE so I let him do all the busy work and I haven't temped since I started seeing him.

I don't temp. I used to use OPK's and track CM. This is my second month using the CBEFM. I actually just tested this morning with a FRER and got a BFN . I think I'm gonna go one more month and then I'm going to try temping. I just really don't want to commit to waking up on the weekends.

This is my first month too that we are really 'trying'. I am temping, and will use OPK. I want to see if I really do O, since coming off BCP.

We just started trying as well so I am just using the calender since I am usually on a 28 day cycle, and I used an opk just to try it out and it came out positive the first time so we went to work lol.

I use the calendar method and OPKs. sometimes If I don't have any OPKs for that month then I just wing it. I pay close attention to my CM to hopefully give me the heads up.

I have never temped. I wake up at all different times.

I chose winging it...we're taking the "if it happens, it happens" approach. If we don't conceive by the end of the year, I'll start using an OPK.

When we first started TTC 6 cycles ago, I thought we'd just wing it and have fun with it ... that it would happen when it happened, etc.

Then AF was 2 days late and we both got our hopes up only to get a BFN.

I started temping because I wanted to make sure I was Oing. I liked that temping gives concrete confirmation that it has happened.

But I didn't like not having "advance notice" so to speak ... so I added OPKs to get that indicator that O was on its way. Especially since O can vary ... I have Oed anywhere from CD 11 to CD 16. That's a pretty big window of time when you're BDing every day or other day

It might just be my personality, needing those confirmations on both sides of O ... and its not for everyone, but for me in our 6th cycle, I feel better knowing that our timing is on target. For me, I'd be much more frustrated in our 6th cycle if I had just been hoping for the best. If we end up seeking RE help in the future, I like that I can print out my charts to discuss where we're at.

I dont temp. I use opk. This is my 2nd official month trying. First month used CM signs but I guess that didnt work so I stepped it up this month.

I'm such a dork, we are not even trying till this summer. But already I've set out a schedule. This month, I started keeping track of CM, next month I'm going to temp (just to see if I can) and then if I still need to in July we'll add OPKs. The reason I'm doing this is b/c 1) I overplan everything!!!! and 2) I just recently moved to NY and started a new teaching job. I don't have any time saved, like I did at my old job. And since it's not public, we don't have tenure. My ideal would be to get pregnant in August and deliver in like May. This would allow me to have the most time home with my child, but not mess up my job. I really don't want to wait till July or August to try and find it is going to take a long time, so I'm planning ahead. Could I be setting myself up for a lot of disappointment? Yes, but this is my personality. I joined LIW before we got engaged and before I moved to LI too. Again, a dork!

i didnt temp at first, but when my first cycle off BCP was 70+ days with no AF, my ob/gyn told me to temp to see if i was ovulating. turns out i wasnt ovulating regularly and when i did ovulate its always been 30+ days into a cycle. i was later d/x with PCOS and started seeing an RE. due to the PCOS i have high LH so i also got A LOT of +OPKs that did not lead to ovulation. and DH and I tired ourselves out everytime the OPK's were +'s. it was kind of a nightmare.. if i didnt temp i wouldnt have known i wasnt ovulating and i prob wouldve waited a lot longer to see an RE.

now i still temp even though i see an RE who monitors everything. im another one of those girls that likes to know whats going on and likes the confirmation of O. ive been taking a break from RE medicated cycles since getting a new job in march, and i wanted to see if i was ovulating on my own. so i continued temping and it turns out I JUST ovulated at CD36+. if it wasnt for temping i wouldnt have been able to confirm that I O'ed (although im still not 100% sure when it happened).

anyway to make a long story short - if you have regular cycles you prob dont need to temp right away unless you really want to confirm that you are ovulating. good luck!

I don't temp. I tried it one month and it didn't work for me. I know a lot of people do it and love it but it made me feel too pressured. We tried the winging it approach for months and since nothing has happened yet last month I started using OPK's.

for about 3 months before we even were ttc I temped and used OPK's to become familiar with my cycle. I learned that my cycle is VERY regular. I have a 28 day cycle and I O on cd13 or cd14

The temping was a little stressful and I really wanted to try and not become too obsessive when we did finally start ttc.

So this is really our first cycle trying, I am 5DPO and just waiting. I did not temp this month and it was nice not having to worry about it. I used OPK's and watched for EWCM and BD'd on my fertile days. Hopefully thats all it will take and I will have a BFP next week.

The first time we got pregnant we just winged it. But it was also on the HM... where we had nothing but time on our hands!

Now that we are in the real world and trying again... I figured it wouldn't hurt to try the CBEFM. So this is my first month using it. It's crazy to me... to KNOW when I O'd now!! When I got the O result on the CBEFM.. I was SOOOO EXCITED!!

I don't know that temping and charting is for me. I think it's just too much daily work and figuring things out and I'd be scared to make a mistake. OPK's.... the comparison of lines would drive me insane. I just like something telling me "hey you... O day is today!!!!". Nice and easy.

But you already knew that. Just wanted to chime in!!
