So, what's your POAS style?

All the POAS I have been doing these past few days got me thinking.....

When I test, I check to make sure the window is turning color so I know it's working and then I lay it flat and I don't look at it right away.. I wait about 2 mins or so, wish really hard, and then pick it up and start the whole 'is that a speck of dust or can that be a line' routine

So, what's your style? Do you stare at the test while it's working? Or, do you put it down and walk away- then come back when you think the results will be there?

i stare at it the whole time

ETA - i stare the whole time if its a line test.

if its a digital i wait for the hourglass or whatever to show its working. then i put it down and distract myself for .002 seconds. then i look and notice the hourglass still blinking. then i put it down and distract myself for .002 seconds. then i look and notice the hourglass still blinking. then i think that its def been a long time its gotta be done soon, so i put it down and distract myself for .002 seconds. then i look and notice the hourglass still blinking. then i get annoyed and promise myself i wont look again for at least a full minute - cause by then it HAS to be done. so i put it down and distract myself for .002 seconds. then i look and notice the hourglass still blinking. amazed that the thing has been "calculating" my pregnancy chances for what feels like a world record beating 7.2 hours (but in reality is about 1 minute) i put it down and distract myself for anther .002 seconds. i repeat the process approximately 18 more times. then i look and see NOT PREGNANT.

I put it down and walk away for about 2 minutes....then I stare. Then I pick it up and move it around towards the light (in the bathroom). I then bring the test into the bedroom and turn my lamp light on and examine it more closely I still havent seen a BFP...so maybe I need to change up my routine lol!!

first I make sure the first line shows up to make sure its working and then walk away and pray pray pray I see 2 lines, i go back and see one so I say to myself, its just not finished yet, then I go back again and stare and try to convince myself I see 2. This last time I finally bought a digital yes or no....of course i did the same thing but there was no way around this it was a clear NO

I POAS first thing in the am, and then jump right into the shower. Theoretically I would wait until after I am out of the shower, but what really happens is that my bathroom floor gets little puddles bc I keep leaning out of the shower to check the test on the counter

First off I don't actually POAS, I PIAC (pee in a cup ). Then I dip for 15 seconds. I have two reasons for this 1. Whenever I try to literally POAS I actually pee on everything 2. I figure if by some miracle I get a BFP I can double, triple and quadrouple test without having to hold it and wait, I can just re-dip.

Once the peeing part is done, I stare. I swear I could burn a hole through the tests sometimes. And of course I hold them up to the light and at all angles "just to be sure!" As far as digitals, I count how many times the hour glass blinks

Also, I am not above fishing a stick out of the trash hours later, cause "Hey you never know, right?!"

I can't believe I just wrote 3 paragraphs on taking HPT's.

I used to sit and stare.

when i got my BFP I checked it over and over. called my sister over to tell me if hers looked the same...went downstairs with the test shaking in my hand to tell DH. took a picture...then threw it away...then took it out of the trash to look at it again just to make sure I DEFFINATELY wasn't going crazy. Threw it away again...went back and checked it ...sat on the bathroom floor staring at it smiling, biting my lip and saying "holy $4!t", then continuing to check it like every 15 minutes just to be sure those lines were still there.

I hope I get that feeling again soon

What test do you use? Im wondering b/c I saw 15 seconds.... I use FRER and it says to dip for only 5 seconds and I always question- "Is 5 seconds enough??"

I dip for 5 seconds with the FRER.. Hmm... imagine it wasn't long enough and that's why I've been getting BFNs all week?!?! Yea right..

I also try not to look at it--I usually leave the bathroom. My thinking is "the watched pot never boils." Then I hold it up to the light and angle it all sorts of ways, squint really hard, and ultimately declare it a BFN and toss it. Then I come back sometime in the next hour and check it in the trash can.

I've done this a few times too! Other times, I put it down and walk away. Then I literally tiptoe into the bathroom as if going slowly and quietly will making is positive!
