UTI issues
so since last month I have been having pelvic pain. To make a long story somewhat short, I went to gynothey gave me an antibiotic and said it might be a UTI, I was peeing a lot but no burning. They also did a sono. I just finished the antibiotic yesterday and found out today that the sono showed a UTI and a cyst on my right ovary. She said not to worry about the cyst that we will recheck it in 3 months and it shouldn't intefere with ttc (but I am still worried) but what really worries me is that I still feel pelvic discomfort and dh and I had to BD ma ton these past few days and I feel like that made it worse and maybe intefered with the antibiotic working.
Should I just take some cranberry pills and now that we are done BDing just see what happens or should I call dr back an go on another antibiotic, which I really dont want to do?
I am just nervous that there is something going on down there and it is going to get in the way of conceiving.
Sorry for rambling, I guess I am wondering if anyone has experience with UTI's and what my next move should be
TIA

Re: UTI issues
I'd call the dr and tell her. I'm currently being treated for my 2nd UTI in 2 months (unfortunately, when I get one, I have a hard time kicking it), but any pelvic discomfort/UTI symptoms are gone after the 2nd or so dose of meds (but of course I finish them). I'm assuming your dr sent your urine for a culture to test the sensitivity and make sure the meds she gave you will work?
This month, I bought one of those at-home UTI tests from AZO and tested at the first sign of discomfort. Maybe you want to try that? But if it's neg and you're feeling pelvic pain, I'd let the dr know.

Re: UTI issues
I hate to say it but if you are having UTI you have to stop BDing until it goes away. That is probably what is causing it.

Re: UTI issues
Yep, I developed a UTI as well. I think it will be very hard to avoid since despite my best efforts and techniques I always develop them after exesseive BDing
I wouldn't BD during a UTI because that could make it worse. Load up on water and cranberry pills to protect yourself for next time.

Re: UTI issues
I would def stop and take the antibiotic and have it all clear up first. You can ask your doc for advice too.
I had 3 cysts in ONE ovary so I know what you feel. They come and go please don't be too worried MANY women get these all the time its very normal.

I agree...UTI's are very dangerous and if they dont' fully get to go away then you can get really sick.
Also everyone please be careful what UTI medication your doctor is putting you on. I am VERY prone to UTI's and have been taking medicine since I was like 20 every time I BD'd and it turns out the medicine that used to be safe to pregnant women now may cause birth defects. There are some safe kinds so just make sure you aren't using any on this list....
uti medication and birth defects
I have been off the medication since October, and have not had one and this is what I do to prevent UTI's.
I bought cranberry concentrate from vitamine shop (the pills weren't strong enough for me) and after I BD I drink the cranberry concentrate mixed with water...and then I continue to drink TONS of water so I pee alot to make sure there is no bacteria. It's worked for me!
