A little freaked out...
I don't know what to expect so I'm hoping you girls can give me some insight....
My aunt works at my ob/gyn office. She calls me out of nowhere today and asked if I was pg yet. I said no and sounded frustrated. She said that she was going thru my chart and realized that DH and I have been trying for almost 6 months. She said that she wants me to come in and see the other MD there on Friday (I always see the midwife). She said that the MD didn't realize who I was (my MIL used to work there too) and he wants me to come in for a consult and possibly do an exam. I asked her if everything was OK...ie - was there some test that I didn't know about that came back bad. She said no. She said that she just knows that we've been trying for a while and wants me to see this MD. I was so excited, nervous, worried, happy, etc about it all I never thought to ask what to expect. Before I sound like some crazy impatient person and call her back to ask I thought you girls may know. She said I didn't need to bring anything and DH didn't need to come for this visit.
Any thoughts??

Re: A little freaked out...
Don't be freaked out. It's great that your aunt is getting you in now...since we know some offices make you wait another 6 months! I went to my dr. for this kind of visit in Jan. It was 6 months since I'd been off the pill (not 6 mos trying). I was there over the summer for a regular checkup and he told me if I wasn't pregnant by then to come in. He talked in his office for a long time. I brought in my charts (just CM and OPKs since I didn't temp), which showed I was having a short LP. He wrote up scripts for blood work and explained when to go and what all the results would show. Then I had a regular exam.
Don't be nervous!

Don't be nervous! The doc will probably just talk to you about your cycle and medical history and give you scripts for blood work, maybe an HSG, and maybe a SA for DH. S/he may also do a regular exam. It's definitely good to at least get checked out. Good luck!!

ITA. Basic exams like this are fine, and will give you a heads-up if there's anything that could become an issue. There probably isn't one; many women take more than six months to get pg. But checking everything out won't hurt.
Good luck!!

Re: A little freaked out...
Thanks girls. That seems to be the general concensous. I l/m for my MIL to call me to discuss it too. I spoke to my SIL and she thinks like you girls....just go in to discuss cycle and be proactive with possibly bloodwork, sono and SA. Which I'm fine with. DH and I both agreed that as long as there is nothing medically "wrong" with us, that we'll keep trying natrually until we get to a year. That's why I didn't call an RE or the ob/gyn yet. Didn't want to seem too hasty. I guess my aunt is impatient for another neice or nephew though
Thanks girsl!
