Need some thoughts on this....

I was "tinkering" with the idea of a vbac....
I'm thinking of this options for several reasons. First of obvious less recovery time needed and the fact I don't want to be away from DC for too many days. Even if I come home on day 3 like I did the first time I would still pretty much be "out of commission" for a week. DH is totally capable of taking care of DC no problems at all. That's not what I'm worried about. I also thought that this will probably be my last baby and I think I may be ready to experience what childbirth is like. The issue is the hospital doesn't allow it and the doctor doesn't have privileges at any other hospitals. I would basically have to find a new doctor and start a new relationship. Thing is if it all goes wrong I would like to have this current doctor there since he did my 1st c section. I was very pleased with his work. Sooooo
this is my dilemma. Please share your thoughts....TIA!

Re: Need some thoughts on this....

I had a c-section with my first, and I am not even considering vbac. I had horrible back labor, and my pelvis is angled in a way that DS wasn't desending fully. They told me I could try vbac, but I do not want to lol. But that's just my situation. I have always wondered what it would be like to have a vaginal delivery, but I am content with the c-section. I do worry about the time away from DS, but he is in great hands with DH and my mom.

The only thing in your situation is that you would have to switch doctors...I personally would rather stick with my doctor who delivered my first baby, knows my history, etc. I am very picky about Dr.'s...for myself and DS...so I would be hesitant to leave once I found a good one...JMO. but if the vbac is very important to you, then go for it. You don't want to regret it later on.

Not sure if this really helped lol sorry.

Thanks for sharing thoughts! I understand exactly what ur saying. I'm not too sure ho important the vbac is to me....I think it's more of a curiosity thing now that this is the 2nd time around. And I feel the same as you when it comes to the doctor I have now. He's very good. It would be a shame to have to start all over....This is something I really have to thing long and hard about....

Re: Need some thoughts on this....

I have met two women IRL who have recently had VBACs. Both of them said that the v-birth was much better then their c/s.

If I have another baby, my plan is to find a Dr or midwife who I know does them and take it from there. (I did not like the Dr who performed my section but that is a different story. I already left that practice.)

Since your still early, I think that it doesn't hurt to do some research. Maybe have a consultation with another Dr. or a midwife and then decide if you want to stay with your current Dr/have the section or use a different Dr. or a midwife.

Re: Need some thoughts on this....

I didn't have an easy c-section the 1st time around but I never even considered a vbac. I didn't want to start labor only to be told, sorry you need a c-section after all. My 2nd section was a piece of cake. When I was allowed out of bed the next day and I was walking around the nurse couldn't believe I had just had a section.
