before you moved in your new home..
did you hire a cleaning service?
i would like to, i guess, but before that, i plan on ripping up any and all carpeting & putting down pergo

We didn't hiring a cleaning company. We did use a steam carpet cleaner on a 2 years old carpet before we moved in. Other than the carpets, we mopped, sweep, vaccum, and repeated again and again. Just a note though, our house was only 7 years old and the previous owner was really clean.

yes, the cleaning svc was the last thing we hired.
we took care of the painting, floors, etc 1st.
we had the house cleaned a few days before we moved in.

We just moved in this week and the prior owners had a cleaning service come in before we moved in. We have since done some work on the house and are not done unpacking. I am going to have our cleaning woman come in next week.

Yes I used Merry Maids and they RIPPED us off  I recommend having someone do it but I'd try to get a local recommendation.

We did & it was a big help since we were so busy.
We hired maid bragaid, they are a vendor on here. They were ok, some things were really spotless but there were some things they missed (moldings were still dusty, kitchen cabinets & counter tops were sticky) they actually came back when I told them I didn't think they did such a great job so I thought that was good that they cared enough to make it right. I hated to complain but it was about $250 so I really expected a thorough cleaning

Get this! The lady that sold us our townhome had her cleaning lady clean our new home top to bottom for us!!! I was all ready to clean it like crazy myself. She is an angel

No - luckily the previous owners did a really good job cleaning it but if it was a mess and if I was skeeved in any way, I would have called one!

Nope. We had a ton of work to do...ripping up carpets, tearing down panelling, painting, etc. I just scrubbed the house down myself when everything was done.

Our Realtor hired a service for us, which was super nice.
Then we demolished our bathroom and refinished the wood floors  so we wound up hiring someone ourselves.

The Sellers actually had a cleaning service come in the day of closing so when we turned the key, everything was spotless 
Of course we still did our own cleaning, but it was nice to walk into a clean house.

we have done tons of work...ripping down walls, putting up closets, etc...after we're doine painting and the wood floors are refinished, we plan on hiring someone to clean before moving the furniture in. this way we know we have a clean fresh start....well worth it in my eyes!

No, we did it ourselves. My inlaws have one of those wet vacs and we used that on all the carpets and did a massive cleaning of the house from top to bottom. I can understand why someone would hire a cleaning company.. it was hard work!

We're actually moving in next week and so far we've done all the cleaning ourselves. I just feel more comfortable knowing I'm cleaning because I know I'll really scrub everything down and plus it's free

I had Stanley Steamers come and do all the carpets (basically the entire house is carpeted). My sister and I scrubbed the bathrooms and kitchen but basically the house was pretty clean. The previous owners were very neat.
