in general i just perfer the darker wood for both boys and girls. IMO girls outgrow white when they're teens and i want my nursery furniture to hopefully be the only bedroom set i'll have to buy for them.

We ran into the same prob with our nursery furniture, I really wanted white, however we decided a darker would would go better for a gender neutral nursery.
I know people that have chosen a white crib for a boy and it looks great with yellows and blue, so i think you can really go either way as long as you add gender specific touches.
