oh POOP. yes, a poop talk. HELLLLLPPPPPP PLEEEEEASE.

We're having issues over here. I made it 7.5 months without a single drop of poop on clothing - that's all over now. Literally. ALL. OVER.

These past 2 days, my once-a-day rabbit pellets pooper has become a 4-5x/day pooper and it's allllll runny... I'd say 80% liquid. I've been through 8 undershirts and almost as many outfits in the past 36 hours.

We've tried pampers in our usual size, pampers up one size, BJs diapers in the larger size, even a huggies overnight sample I had. Pooped through all of them. The best has been BJs, because they have elastic at the top of the front AND the back. They hold it in so I at least have 30 seconds to yank his clothing off once I hear the explosion.

He often strikes during his sleep, and he doesn't wake up. He takes 2 to 2.5 hr naps, so he's potentially sitting in his own diarrhea for up to 2 hours before the babysitter discovers it. No diaper rash this morning, then all of a sudden, MAJOR diaper rash at his 1st diaper change. It's obvious it's where the poo touches/potentially sits on him. He hasn't pooped overnight yet - just naps.

I JUST gave him a bath, covered him in butt paste, then not 5 MINUTES LATER, he blew out another diaper. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon And another white undershirt goes in the washer.

- No Fever at all
- Normal appetite: 3-4 jars of food per day, 2 servings of cereal. We're using mixed cereal (the rice, wheat, oatmeal combo. Rice severely constipates him). NO NEW FOODS, AND NO YOGURT.
- He's a little whinier than usual - his paci isn't even soothing him (he's just holding it and chewing on it).
- Everything is going in his mouth (like it has been for the past 3 months).

He has NO TEETH yet, so i really don't know what to expect. Could this be it!??!?! FINALLY? (He's 7.5 months). He's had little white outlines for months now, but no breakthrough.

HELP!! What can I do, other than duct tape a garbage bag to his lower half?!?!

We have had the SAME issue the past week! I changed his outfit FOUR times today due to blowouts! Chat Icon I keep thinking maybe it's something he ate...Can too much yogurt give them the runs? Chat Icon No advice, but I don't think the issue is teething for Will.

Re: oh POOP. yes, a poop talk.

Yogurt generally gives him runnier poo, but I haven't given him any yogurt since Friday.

I would definitely say he's teething! My DD did the same thing around 8 months when her first tooth came through. Did you try giving him banana or apples? I know that helped for us over here. I never gave rice cereal either.

Could be just that he's swallowing excess saliva from teething, even oif he's not running a fever or being cranky (my kids never were cranky, thankfully). I know with my DD, the tiniest bit of apple anything, particularly apple juice, gave her severe diahrea. Could that be it?

Apples have never had that effect on him before, but hey, that could start at any time, right?

Thanks everyone.
Anyone have any tips re: the diaper rash, containing the mess, etc?

Welcome to the world of teething! This was both of the twins! It was your experience times 2! Chat Icon Just imagine...Our apartment smelled like sh1t for days!

But, then it goes away and the pearly whites came busting through! BTW, my kidlets got their teeth late as well!

The fact that he is eating and in a good mood and still napping, tells me it is teething!

Definitely sounds like teething! I know lots of babies (myself included as a baby!) that had the same issue! Hope your cutie pops out a tooth REAL soon!

Yeah, teething or a stomach bug! We never had excessive poop w/teething but every once in a while we get an unexplained bout of diarhea and it passes, eventually!

Sounds like teething to me too. Just went through this with Ronan for a few days. The trick with the rash is you have to put the treatment on first(butt paste, triple paste, zinc cream) then put a clear protector over that-a&d, aquaphor etc. Also add 3 Tbl baking soda to his bath. You can try mylanta straight on his dry butt but I never noticed much of a difference adding that.

ooo excellent. thank you.
weird question - when you put desitin or butt paste on, do you glob it on and leave it thick, or do you spread it out/rub it in?

I think a little goes a long way when combining. So I do a thin butt past elayer and a nice layer of a&d -I use Target brand. Then I make sure the diaper is on so it isn;t rubbing anywhere. I have no advice on the explosions but they are probably temporaryChat Icon

how many times a day is this happening? It sounds like more than teething to me. I would call the pediatrician just to be safe. Babies can get dehydrated very easily and if he is having explosive large poops several times a day you want to be careful.

Natie is doing the same thing. He's been doing it off & on for the past couple of weeks. Yesterday alone he had 4 blowouts at daycare. They said he's laughing like crazy when he does it.Chat Icon

Natie already has a tooth that has crowned, so between teething and being EBF we do his laundry everyday.Chat Icon

he woke up at 7
i changed him at 7:15
we're on outfit #2 already Chat Icon. I had to strip him, pull the poop-covered onesie over his head, then shower him to get all the poo off his chest.

I'm calling the ped when they open in a half hour.
