Sleep and Night Time Rituals

Does anyone have any specific night time rituals before bed?

Besides the usual brush teeth, wash face, remove contacts?

Dh and I have been sleeping with a noise machine on for years now. We even take it on vacation with us. We also sleep with a small fan on regardless of the time of year or the fact that we have central AC....

Anyone else?

I sleep with a soud machine. DH still hates it though. When we got married I got one I could turn down pretty low. It gives me something, but it isn't as loud as my original.

yes, window cracked (i need fresh air, especially since being pregnant) and I must have a bottle of water.

I always go to sleep before DH and he wakes me up to kiss me goodnight, every night

I MUST have a glass of water next to my bed. It doesn't matter if I drink it or not, I can't sleep if it's not there.

Before I met DH I had to have complete and total silence, but for some reason now I HAVE to have some form of white noise to sleep, so we either use a fan or our humidifier.

I also must have seltzer by my bed, and DH must make sure the room is pitch black or he can't sleep.

Lets see we share a huge thing of water, I put vaseline on my lips, moisturize my legs and hands. We both stretch and then to night we go.

I have to go in and check on my son.

Even though I can see him on the monitor, I can't go to sleep without checking in on him.

I put my hand on his chest, whisper a few loving things to him, give him an "air kiss", and say goodnight.

i HAVE to have the TV on to fall asleep... even if i know im not going to watch it, it has to be on very low volume -- i also go around and make sure the doors are locked and lights are off.... also make sure both animals are present lol

other than that, nothing out of the normal brush teeth & wash face

Aside from the ritual we have with the boys (family cuddle/lullabyes/tuck in/kiss) - I also have a habit of going downstairs, checking the lights, the doors, the windows and the shades. Then I close the door between the living room and the stairs before going to check on the boys and going to bed.

Rob does what he calls "cool down" - which I find hilarious. He starts by laying on his back with his eyes closed for 5-15 minutes (depending on how hot/tired he is). Then he sits up, strips off his tee shirt and lays back down on his back. Then after another minute he goes to pee, comes back, takes off his pj pants - folds his tee shirt and pants and puts them in the closet. Then he gets back into bed and rolls onto his side - facing me and hold my hand (if I'm still awake) and falls asleep.

We also always have a fan going. The boys always have their fan on too!

I check on the kids

wake dh up ( he falls asleep on the couch everynight)

get dh's work clothes together

I can't go to sleep w/o having the blanket in between my toes ,and shoved between my legs

then I wait for dh to fall back asleep ,so I can turn the tv off and turn the fan down ,then I elbow dh about 10 x's before he stops snoring long enough for me to fall asleep

DH got me into having a glass of water by the bed..

We open the window a crack...

That's really all though....oh yeah DH fights with me over which pillows are "his" and he trades them with me for about 5 minutes every night

closet door has to be closed
DH watches TV and since the TV in the bedroom is huge (obviously DH had to get a gigantic one) I actually fluff up the blanket so it covers the TV and I don't see any light from it
lights have to be off
have to kiss DH b4 bed

I have to make sure the cats didn't run out. They never have but I just need to check.

Must put tons of Chapstick on.

Make sure the front door is locked.

Check that the fridge is shut.

Prayer to St. Gerard....and I'm emabarrased to admit this one...I knock on wood every night. I think I'm a lil OCD.

Nope. I can sleep in the light or in the dark. I can sleep in quiet or noise. The only thing is that I can't sleep if I feel hot or stuffy, so I usually have the window opened a crack. And I have to have something covering me. Usually the comforter, but at the very least I need a top sheet, even when it is 90 degrees out!

I always need a drink on my nightstand - either water, seltzer, or wine. Same as a PP - doesn't matter if I'm thirsty or not.

I need to have the TV on in order to fall asleep. DH and I have a fan running in our room at night, regardless of the temperature inside or out. In the winter, we also have a humidifier on.

I also have to check on both of our son's before I go to bed and I whisper the same thing to them every night "Mommy loves you. Have sweet dreams. I'll see you tomorrow.".

Other than wash face, brush teeth, etc., lately I go to sleep listening to whispered relaxation "videos" every night on youtube.

i need our night light on. i have no idea why, i'm not scared of the dark or anything, but if i forget to put it on before i lay down i will just lay there irked.
dh always has a bottle of water next to him.
if i have work in the morning, i check that the alarm on my cell phone is set a bunch of times. once is never enough.
