Re: now i have to know. what is bubble tea?

Bubble tea is a sweetly flavored tea beverage invented in Taiwan. Drink recipes may vary, but most bubble teas contain a tea base mixed with fruit (or fruit syrup) and/or milk and also contains tapioca balls. These teas are shaken to mix the ingredients and the "bubble" moniker refers to both the foam formed in this process and the tapioca balls added to the drink.

Bubble tea originated in Taiwan in the 1980s, first spread to nearby East Asian countries, migrated to Canada before spreading to Chinatown in New York City, and then to various spots throughout the West Coast of the United States[1].

There are many variants of the drink, depending on types of tea used and ingredients added. The most popular kinds are "bubble black tea" (traditional Chinese: ????; pinyin: pào mò hóng chá; literally "froth red tea"), "bubble green tea" (traditional Chinese: ????; pinyin: pào mò lu chá), and "pearl milk tea" (traditional Chinese: ????; pinyin: zhen zhu nai chá).

In the most common English usage, the name "bubble tea" is often associated with pearl milk tea, as it is the most popular variant of the drink. Pearl milk tea, also known as "boba milk tea", is traditionally made by adding boba balls (made from a mixture of tapioca and carrageenan powder), large or small, to shaken milk black tea. Some tea houses use pre-mixed milk tea to simplify the steps and reduce cost, thus removing the "shake" part from step and lessening its connection to the "bubble tea" name. This has caused some confusion as to what "bubble" is referring to in pearl milk tea.

It's tea (hot or cold) with tapioca balls in it. There are a lot of flavors- black tea, jasmine tea, almond, citrus, and different things you can put in it besides tapioca balls.

The TenRen shop is my favorite, their tea seems to be the most intensely flavored. Chat Icon

Hey Liza, there is/was a place in Valley Stream called The Little Nest that served it. And it was GOOD.

I am going to try this place though: Port Jefferson Bubble Tea!

you can get bubble tea at the fortune wheel restaurant in levittown in the bj's shopping center. also haven't been there in a while but they have had it at v&t supermarket in hempstead. i have also had it in flushing in the mall. also in an asian restaurant in west babylon had it (i will pass by tonight to see if they still have it).

The little nest closed!!!! I was so mad cause the sign kept saying "opening soon under new management" so I was waiting and waiting, now it just says "Store for rent"

OMG, I LOVE bubble tea. Where can I get it?

I haven't had in years it seems since I moved out of Queens and used to get it at a place by the bus stop I used in Flushing.

I live on the South Shore in the Massapequa/Amityville border.

Re: now i have to know. what is bubble tea?

so good! Instead of the tea I would get the fruit flavored slush with the bubbles. There was a place right by my job that used to sell it & I was totally addicted. I haven't had it in so long!
