ok, I do not spill my stuff on here but here goes.

My Pediatrcian is not in yet, my husband went away and this week has not been easy.
My son jake has me worried--he has had nosebleeds, I mean alot--this week.
I thought his room was dry-even though max does not get nose bleeds.
jake woke up yesterday with no exaggeration-a nose bleed that looked like a CSI scene, he looked like he was slit from his face to the back of his neck--I neverrrrrr saw anything like that.
he can just be eating, like last night and this morning and blood starts pouring in his food.
I mean he has bled before but not like this week!
Now my niece has Von Wilken something issue and Iwas just diagnosed with things. My dh has platelet issues tooo
So..ok-Please please answer...
does anyones other child have these issues?
I might also add he bruises badly and so does someone else in the family-we are talking unexplained wake up bruising like you are wondering how the heck did I get that?

any opinions?
I know to calll the doctor..he is not in yet-I just want to know if anyone else has this issue?

Re: ok, I do not spill my stuff on here but here goes.

I don't have a child that experiences this, or know any.

However, with that said... my husband is like this. He will get nosebleeds out of the blue and always seems to have new bruises on him.

He's never been diagnosed with anything. He does have very sensitive skin, and the nosebleeds seem to happen more in the colder months when the air indoors is drier.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but I keep your DS in my Chat Icon that's it's nothing more than the dry winter air. Chat Icon

Re: ok, I do not spill my stuff on here but here goes.

My son doesn't have this, but my DH does. I remember him calling me on his way home from work ((he was just about at our place)) when he said to have a box of tissues ready, and it was POURING out, I mean he filled the entire toliet with blood, got me very nervous.

I took him to the ER and they cortorised his nose, and he didn't have another one for a very long time. Maybe that will help? I have no idea if he has to be a certain age though. I hope he gets better! Chat Icon Chat Icon

DH was having bad nosebleeds regularly. He discontinued taking aspirin.

Has he been on any medication recently?

never any medication and never any tylenol nothing other then when very tiny.
Right now no one can be on anything that this the blood, in fact he even said no aleve, motrin, tylenol-anything in the house so the whole house is clear of it.
They eat a diet full of things foor anemics so I dk..
maybe i have to calll the ENT and not the Ped.

It sounds to me like quite a few people in your family have blood clotting disorders and that maybe this is the case with your son as well. Let your ped know about the family history and have him check your son out.

Once they find out what it is they will be able to treat it.

Did he recently fall ? Hit his head? When I was little I fell and hit my head , it wasn't even that bad, I got up and was I fine, didn't hurt or anything . But I had horrible nose bleeds for almost a year after that , made me anemic which caused me to bruise very easily. It just went away on it's own.

I hope you figure out what it is and he feels better very soonChat Icon

Re: ok, I do not spill my stuff on here but here goes.

My DD has this happen to her every so often. Sometimes she was getting 2 or 3 nosebleeds a day.

We took her to the ped, and it turned out she was picking her nose so much she can cutting herself. Each time she picked it again, she reopened the scab and had bloody noses. Could this be happened with your DS?

Ds gets nose bleeds like that every now and then. It actually happened to him yesterday too, twice actually: the fist time when he woke in the am and secondly at school. We took him to an ENT a few years ago and he was diagnosed with an enlarged blood vessel in his nose. The ENT suggested that he could just grow out of it or we could coutrorize it. We are giving it a little more time.

Re: ok, I do not spill my stuff on here but here goes.

My son always gets these. Started when he was TINY. Came into his crib in the morning and he was COVERED in blood. Scared the B-Jesus out of me. Took him to an ENT. He's ok. Turns out some kids are just prone to them. They will cortorize if needed but it's painful so unless it's a HUGE prob, they probably won't.
