Question.....what is a good schedule for an 8week old? I need help!

Emmy is 8.5wks old and I have no idea what i'm doing. What is a good schedule for her? When should her bedtime be? She normally is so exhausted at 7pm she falls asleep and we struggle to keep her up until 8, 9, or 10 so she'll sleep good. She's only sleeping between 4-5hrs at a time and we have started a bedtime routine of bath, book, bottle, bed awake but sleepy. She does well, but I wonder if we should be moving her bedtime up since this is what she seems to prefer?

Also what do you do with your dc at this age? I can only sing so many songs, and so on. It seems like she's at an akward stage right now with not being overly tired and sleeping, but not really interactive yet.

Loey is 9 weeks old...

Basically we do the "eat, activity, sleep" schedule.

I BF him at 5 am then he goes right back to sleep (still consider this "night")

He wakes for the day around 8am and gets a bottle of BM. Then DH plays with him.

9:30 - 11 is nap.

11 gets another bottle of BM... then DH plays with him some more.

12:30-2 is another nap.

Around 2 he gets another bottle... then DH plays with him.

3:30-5 is another nap.

Then I BF him and play with him Chat Icon (best part of my day!)

6:30-8 is another nap.... then I BF him and he goes to bed.

For play, we (me or DH) do:
-gym mat
-surfboard tummy time mat
-singing
-reading
-playing with toys (mirror, rattles, etc)
-going for a walk (talking the whole time!)
-running errands with baby
-watching mobile in crib for a little...

Loey is SUPER interactive right now! I just love it. When we read to him, he smiles and kicks his legs and coos... it's adorable.

ETA: This is the rough schedule... obviously we're flexible and if he's hungry we feed him and if he's tired we put him down for a nap... we're not "stuck" to the schedule - KWIM? We base it on his cues + the time + our interpretation of his needs

I learned a lot of it from reading Babywise!

The bare bones of the schedule is EAT, PLAY, SLEEP. At this age, they should be eating around every 2.5-3.5 hours.... after "bedtime" we take out the "play" part and it's just eat then sleep until his morning wake time.

Ok so i'm not crazyChat Icon For some reason I thought she should be up more, but this sounds VERY similar to what we're doing. Do you reccomend Baby Wise? What is night time/bedtime/how long is he sleeping at night, like for you?

we follow eat, play, sleep also.i read babywise but dont truly follow it (i dont actually understand it lol) i feed on demand and thats pretty much around every 2 hrs
i read to ds all day long bc its hard to do it as part of night time routine bc his final feed is around 8 and he is so sleepy and so i quickly swaddle him and hes down til about 5am. then i nurse him and then hes up by 7ish for the day.

i dont have a set schedule for Will bc hes not a great napper. he'll do 20 min cat naps- thats allChat Icon

i never put ds on a schedule. he ate when he was hungry he slept when he was sleepy and played when he wanted to when he was that age.
He eventually put himself on a schedule around 10 weeks or so.

he has a bottle around 8-830 and goes to bed for the night. wakes up at 8am and eats again around 830. he then plays takes a 20 min catnap plays more eats around 1-2 does the same thing, another 20 min catnap plays and eats again at 5pm. then he stays up until 8 and has his last bottle

works for him works for me!

ITA except mine didn't really get into a schedule until about 12 weeks. One of them slept ALL THE TIME during the day until fairly recently.

If the baby is super sleepy at 6pm, make that bedtime. I put mine down at 6:30 tonight. They will wake to eat but it is what it is.
