Convertible Carseat ques
DS is 6months and hitting the 20 pound mark - it's time to get rid of snap n go :( I will miss the conv. for me but for him he is sooo uncomfortable and miserable in that seat! He screams his head off when he get's in it and is usually screaming for 90 percent of the car ride no matter how far the distance....
I'm aware at 20 lbs/ 1 yr real. they can face fwd but if he is 20 pounds can't he face fwd? regardless of age- it's more of a weight issue. I know it is now recommended to stay in seat rear up until 2 yrs old but i'm not planning on doing that! so since i'm somewhat of a rule breaker i'm wondering does he actually meet the requirement to face fwd??? i don't mind doing it up until a yr if i must

Re: Convertible Carseat ques
1yr is the rule
Sorry
I think a convertble seat however will help a lot. I moved AJ out of her snap and go into her Recaro seat and she had more room. The way its positioned is just different.
I personally am still having her rear facing she's about 30lbs and she's 18lbs.
ETA: this rule is one I stand by (the 1yr mark and now the recommendation for 2yrs) Its not for convinence its for their saftey. I actually do buy into the idea their tiny bodies are not structurally sound to handle an impact. Their muscles have not yet developed enough to handle it. Their bones still so brittle. But that's just *MY* opinion.

The way I understand it is that the child must meet both the age and weight requirement in order to legally face forward. HTH

yes - and it's suggested that they stay rear facing for as long as the convertible car-seat is rated that way!
we just had ours put in today and the woman told us that ours is rated to 33 pounds rear facing so that we should keep her in it until then.
there are REALLY GOOD reasons for the rear facing, safety ones that are VERY valid. you don't want to hear the stories I was told today about what can happen by the officer at the station. i will 100% definitely keep emma rear facing until we can no longer!

Re: Convertible Carseat ques
Weight has very little to do with it. Age (neck muscle maturity) is the major issue. Young necks can't support the head in even a minor collision.
