I am 17w and definitely showing. I gained 6 lbs but I feel like everyone else didn't gain ANY weight and isn't showing yet.

AND I am 17w and I barely feel the baby. Little flutters but no kicks and definitely no where near where DH can feel from the outside. . .

I didn't really feel the baby until 19 weeks and DH didn't feel him kick until a week later. I started gaining weight early on too so don't feel like a freak! Chat Icon

Re: this board makes me feel like a freak!

your not weird I started gaining weight from the beginning I think I gained the same amount as you if not more by 17 weeks. I started to feel my baby really give strong kicks around 24 weeks where dh could finally feel. So i should say welcome to the club you are not alone

I'm only 14 weeks and completely and obviously showing!!!

And my babycenter email for 15 weeks said that by now most women have gained 5 lbs, so it sounds to me like you are right on track!Chat Icon

Chat Icon I felt flutters from 15-20 weeks. When I was starting to freak out (20 weeks exactly) the NEXT day is when I felt a full blown kick! Gar felt a kick like the next day but he was "digging deep" and by that I mean pressing very hard.

Re: this board makes me feel like a freak!

I gained around the same as you and I'm not showing QUITE yet BUT I contribute that to my height.
6 lbs on me never really shows- I'm 5'9"
So the baby has a lot of places to hide!

I actually feel like the freak for NOT showing at 22 weeks. People are constantly staring at my mid section- looking for ANY sign I'm preggo.
It's getting annoying.

Also- I don't get how you can NOT gain weight.
The boobs are bigger, you have more blood volume, you are retaining more fluids, the placenta, the baby itself etc... I just can't imagine not putting on any weight at 16 weeks or whatever.
My boobs alone weight a pound more each I am sure! Chat Icon

And as far as the movement- FORGET IT!! I have anterior placenta and at 22 weeks I might have felt a flutter or 2 but it is so faint I can also contribute it to gas! (Which Lord knows I have an abundance of!)

Everyone is different... don't feel like a freak!!!!!

I will be 20 weeks this thursday and even though i have not gained any weight and I am definitely not showing.

I definitely DO NOT feel the baby "kicking" at all and there is no way in hell that DH would be able to feel anything. I occasionallly feel small bubbles popping inside me here and there but nothing consistant at all and I am still not totally convinced it just isn't gas ! Chat Icon Chat Icon

The first thing you have to remember is that pregnancy is different for everyone. The way you carry, how you're showing, how you're feeling, how you feel the baby, it's all different for everyone.

Re: this board makes me feel like a freak!

You're not a freak - i'm about 23 weeks and i'm up 16 lbs. I started gaining weight at 9 weeks and showing since about 13-14 weeks - I popped and fully look pregnant at 21 weeks.

I starting feeling flutters around 18 weeks - and still do not feel the baby all the time.

Re: this board makes me feel like a freak!

Okay... first, I think you're having a girl. I just decided. Deb may know from sonograms, I know from my super psychic abilities. Chat Icon

Secondly, with my first I was wearing maternity clothes at 10 weeks. And I was pulling them out at 7 weeks this time.

Very, very few people feel flutters that early with their first. I think I felt DD at 19 weeks... in retrospect I remember feeling her earlier but I didn't know then what I was feeling. One of my BFFs didn't feel her first until 22 weeks. Totally NORMAL!!

I'm pretty sure I gained 6 or 7 pounds by 17 weeks the first time around too. And the weight gain only picked up speed from there!! Between my 20th and 24th week I gained 14 pounds. FOURTEEN IN 4 WEEKS!!!

"Normal" doesn't really mean anything. Everyone's different, every pregnancy is different and unless your doctor specfically tells you otherwise, you're "normal" too. Chat Icon

At 17 weeks I had already gained some weight and was wearing maternity clothes.

Looking at the pics now- I feel like I was barely showing...but then, I felt huge already

Your weight gain is fine.

And at this point you should only be feeling flutters. Nothing consistent yet. You are completely normal. Chat Icon

Re: this board makes me feel like a freak!

I def have gained weight (I really hate to calculate how much... but def 2 pant sizes) and am in maternity pants at 12.5 weeks.

I don't know if I'm "showing", but my belly is def different... and I'm a tall (5ft 8inch), pretty thin person.
