Would u go?: UPDATED....I went!
My sis is giving birth as I type. Little sister, first baby.....we're very close. She lives in Boston. I desperately want to go visit her and the baby in the hospital tomorrow.
I would make a day trip and would take a Bolt Bus up there. 4 hours each way....assuming no traffic (I'd prefer to take Amtrak but it's too damn expensive----around $200).
I am only 21 weeks but have some serious back pain so I can't drive up myself and DH has to work.
I'd leave my house at 6:30am and walk in the door at 9pm.
Am I nuts?

So I decided to drive up to Boston on Tuesday after all. Left LI at 7:30am; got to Boston at 11:30; saw my sis from 12 - 1:30 and drove home from 2 - 6.
Well worth it! My nephew is beautiful and I know my sis was thrilled and shocked to see me.
My stomach is STILL killing me from wearing a seat belt for more than 8 hours though!
I'm definitely glad I went!

Re: Would u go?
Is there any way you can stay overnight?
I would absolutely go but that's a lot of traveling in one day, and what if there is a delay with a bus?

Re: Would u go?
It's a lot of traveling, are you sure you will even be able to SEE the baby? Is the hospital strict with visitation due to flu season?
Maybe you should visit over the weekend when you can see your sister and the baby more intimately and you have more time? You'll hate leaving so soon I bet.

Re: Would u go?
I really can't miss 2 days of work so I'd have to do a day trip if I want to visit them in the hospital. I checked the hospital's visiting policy and I would be able to see them. DH and I will probably go up in a month or so to visit them for a weekend.....I just really wanted to visit her in the hospital.

I'd definitely go- I know I'd be upset if my sister didn't visit me if she was able to.
Bring a pillow on the bus

Re: Would u go?
Although it sounds like a REALLY long day, I would go (I would regret not going).
The only thing is - starting tomorrow evening we are supposed to get a lot of snow. I mean, it could miss us like this weekend's storm did, but just keep that in mind because you may have an issue getting back home.

I would definately go. You will not regret it. However, it is supposed to snow tomorrow so be prepared to stay a night if you encounter transportation issues.

Re: Would u go?
As Nike says, "Just do it!!!"
When I had my son there was a rift in the family. My son is the only child in the entire family and it was super important to me that my grandmother be apart of it. That was difficult because the family members that she lives with had to drive her places and the problem was with them. So basically they were more than happy to see me suffer if they did not drive my grandmother to come see my son. I was laying in the hospital when in walked my grandmother! She came up to me, I was groggy, she said I saw your beautiful son in the nursery, he is amazing. She stayed for literally 5 minutes and left. That made my life. I know it was a trial for her to get a ride to see me, I knew she risked getting reprimanded, but I got to share something with her that no one else could, even if just for a minute.
Not the same scenario, but you get my point. Your first baby is a once in a lifetime experience. Your sister will be thrilled and you will be thrilled. You'll also be thrilled when she does the same for you : )

Re: Would u go?
I would do it. It's a long day and would be tiring, but it's also not something I'd want to miss and I would totally regret not going, even with the possible snow.

Re: Would u go?
Are you off next Monday? If so I would go for a 2 or 3 day weekened. That way you can spend more time with the baby and sister.
Congrats Auntie!

Re: Would u go?
I suppose I am in the minority. I would skip it, but that is just my opinion. I am not a big fan of hospital visits to begin with and would just rather go when I would be able to spend more time with her and the baby.
Good luck if you decide to go though
