Another Possible Bed...YAy or Nay?
DS LOVES THIS ONE.
We saw a wood one like it , but it was like $800 and more then we budgeted. Again, we want to do big boy furniture set when he is a bit older ...6-7...and so we need something to last till then...a twin bed preferably.
My DH and Noah love this bed and the plus is it has storage underneath which is a HUGE plus.
Its $315.....No box spring needed....
Doesnt match his white furniture, but not a big deal.
Its the Step 2 Lifestyle Bed

My son is 7...almost 8. I could never see him in that bed. It is a little crib-like.
In my opinion...just get his "forever" bed now. Why buy something then have to buy something else in 3-4 years?
Just get a regular twin now that matches his room and be done with it.

HAHA...And my 10 yr old nephew ( 11 in April) said, wow, I want that... So its a matter of preference I guess..
I saw it in person BTW and its MUCH bigger then it looks...it looks liek a toddler bed and its not, its a full Twin..
I just wanted him to have...well dH really..something fun for now...b/c we planned on buying a real expensive set that will last him for a while...down the road...kinda how our families do it...when they are 7ish buy a whole new set that lasts throughout teenage years...
I'm against this BTW- just trying to see all reasons so I can hand them to DH

I think it's too busy for a bed and would remind him too much of playtime. It looks like something to play on instead of sleep in. I wouldn't want to confuse my children with their bed being a place to play in.
I liked the one you posted from Ikea.

I like the concept but do not like the fact that it is so "high". Would Noah be OK at night going down the ladder in the dark?

Its only as high as say your mid thigh...if you see where it lands on the lady in the picture.

As long as you are not concerned about him being able to get out of the bed at night and he can handle it, why not?
I don't think he will go passed 6-7 but it's cute for right now if this in your budget. I also like the storage. We have tight space and we must make the best of every square inch. So drawers, etc.. are a must for DS' new bed.

You'll only be using it for a short time and eventually have to buy another bed to replace it, so why bother?

i think its adorable, and love the concept of it, but wouldn't get it. It's really just the cheap side of me. DD is going from Crib to forever bed.. nothing in between (well, thats my plan for now lol).

Ok, this is my thinking.
Like I've posted before, my nephews are still in their car beds and they are 6 and 5 years old.
With that being said, I know that my cousin was given those beds. If you are going to spend 350 on a bed, I would just make it a bed that will last longer.
I also think it looks too fun to be a bed personally.
What I would do, if I were you, if you don't want to get a big bed now (twin or bigger) just go to BBB, get a small bed for 100 bucks (one the size of a car bed) and when he grows out of it, get another.
