Congestion in a newborn
Xavier is 10 days old and is so horribly congested. I thought it was in his chest so I took him to the ped yesterday. I was told it's not and as long as he's eating not to worry about it. I've been using saline spray and trying to suck it out but it's so far in the back of his nose/throat that nothing comes out. Any other ideas on what I can do?

i prefer vaporizor, and if possible have them sleep inclined- like hte fp newborn to toddler rocker chair.

Dawn, Luke is the same way. I hate it so much. Nina has a terrible cold so I thought maybe he was coming down with it but the Ped. said no. Im not doing anything, Im just letting it work its way out on its own. If it keeps up much longer, then I will use the humidifier.

Constantine is almost 4weeks old and has been the same way for like a week. We went to the ped on monday and she gave us saline spray. I try to suck it out too but its too far back. We've been using a humidifier in the bedroom at night and the saline spray before he eats so he can breathe. It is slowly getting better but the dr said its normal anyway.

DS was like/is this too. Ped checked him out and he was always ok. To this day he's always a little stuffy when he wakes in the A.M. we did buy a humidifier and that has seemed to help.

Tyler was SO congested when he was first born. I had my ped do the suction thingie and was in shock with how much mucus came out. It was insane. He got all up in there.  I am so bad at the suction thing, so I just use the saline, and the boogie wipes. Also, a cool mist humidifier, and took lots of steam showers with Tyler in the beginning. That helped a TON. Oh, also, I notice that tummy time gets alot of the mucus out also!

I've tried to have him sleep in the carseat...i'll try the rocker tonight. I also have him sleep in the boppy(yes I know it's not recommended...lol)

Oh...poor Luke. I thought I got him sick from taking him out to the mall and BRU. I was relieved to hear he's not sick!!

I have the bebe sounds one and it comes with a long thin attachment...scared to go to far up though. I looked up his nose with a flashlight and can't see anything...it's that far back.

DS has slept on the boppy while on me a few times. I loved it!
Xavier had congestion once we came home from the hospital. We purchased a humidifier, the Crane tear drop one and X is cleared up now.
