Clomid

My OB/GYN suggested Clomid if I don't get pregnant in the next few months. I ovulate late (day 18 of a 28 day cycle).

Would you go beyond the OB/GYN and take it your own hands to see a RE instead of 'trying' Clomid? I feel like I would want to find out more of what's going on with my body.

Thoughts?

Absolutely!! I would go straight to an RE. It is ridiculous to take Clomid, or any fertility med for that matter, without first knowing what is even wrong with you. An RE will do a complete work up FIRST and then decide the best course of action after. Make your appt. with the RE.

Re: Clomid

i agree. in my first cycle with my RE i did clomid simply because my ob/gyn prescribed it and i hadn't really be DX yet. it turned out to be a total waste because i have PCOS with high LH and was never going to O from clomid due to the high LH.

the cycle was a waste of time except that it was nice to get used to the monitoring of an RE and knowing when to give up on it instead of waiting it out forever like i would have done with my ob/gyn who never even told me when to come back after prescribing it.

Re: Clomid

I definitely suggest seeing an RE, especially because I made the decision to switch over and I'm having such a positive experience. With my ob/gyn, I was just a number Chat Icon . Good luck!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Definitely go to a RE!!! I went through my first round of Clomid with my OB/GYN and it was a complete waste! I didn't even O and since there was NO monitoring done, I never knew it. I'm now under the care of a RE and making some progress. GL! Chat Icon

Re: Clomid

99% of OB/GYN's do not monitor you on clomid...for that reason alone seeing an RE is beneficial. Plus, there could possibly be an underlying issue that your OB hasn't tested you for yet. By going to an RE you will get the proper monitoring and tested needed.
