short term diability?
did anyone sign up for this? my company offers a STD policy but of course you can only sign up during open enrollement which i missed 
i've been calling around to different places but most companies only offer STD through employers...does anyone know of a company that offers STD individually?

if i dont find a place that can offer STD individually, DH and i will have to put TTC on hold so i dont have the baby till 2011 so i can sign up during open enrollement at my job

The only company that I know of is AFLAC. Not sure if they do individually or not. It is not offered through my employer, they only offer the cancer coverage.

i called aflac's 1800 number and they said they DONT offer individual policies...however, thats not what it says on their website so i just called a local office and am waiting to hear back from an agent

I got my STD through Afflack individually since my company doesn't offer any disability benefits. If you'd like the number of my agent just FM me she was very helpful!

Question, I just read that short term disability kicks in immediately. I'm getting 6 weeks paid leave already, would short term disability be redundant. Also, I may ending up giving birth over the summer when I'm not working anyway (private school teacher) so I would be paying for a policy and not really be able to use it. Any thoughts?
