Impact for gender determination.
I'm going to be 17 weeks on Thursday and really anxious to know what we're having. Have any of you ladies gone there to find out the sex of your baby? How was your experience? I was planning on paying for just gender determination. If anyone had that done, did you feel it was worth it?
TIA!

Re: Impact for gender determination.
If you can hold out just a few weeks more you can most likely find out the sex for free at your Level II. I'm having mine tomorrow and I'll be around 19 weeks.
Not sure if you can wait though...

I can wait I guess...I'm just such an impatient person by nature. The anticipation is crazy!

Re: Impact for gender determination.
Someone I know went & it ended up being wrong. They told her she was having a boy, and then at her level 2 she found out it really is a girl. I wouldn't waste the time or money.

Re: Impact for gender determination.
I had a gender determination done both pregnancies, at 16 weeks, I couldn't wait. The first one I had done at Impact, the second I had done at Womb with a View in Bohemia. I paid $60 for both.

Re: Impact for gender determination.
I went at 16w and there was no mistaking the boy parts on the 3d. My whole family could clearly see what the parts were. I agree it was impatient of me not to wait the month but I could think of a zillion other things I waste the $65 on- ESPECIALLY the $40 I wasted on intelligender- and at least u will get pics of the baby! BUT I will say don't expect cute face pics that early b/c the baby is still super skeletal looking!

Re: Impact for gender determination.
I called and spoke to a guy on the phone. Asked a few questions and then he said "Nothing is a guarantee". And thats all I needed to hear. I didnt have a good feeling about it.
I'm gonna wait until my level 2.

For boys it will turn into a labia for boys it is a penis and testicles. Thats why they say sono's aren't accurate until 20 weeks.

Yes I have heard this. I was just over 17 weeks at my amnio and the tech wouldn't even take a guess at the sex. She told me it's too early and that the "nub" between the legs could turn into a penis or a clitorisis depending on whether it's a boy or girl. Then I watched a video on baby center about it- it's actually pretty cool. So I have to wait for my Level II. The time goes fast though.

The parts aren't the same- they just look similar- and a skilled technician with good equipment can make the determination as early as 14 weeks. If you wait for 20w anyone can make the call because it is just that obvious- and most hospitals rather just wait for that time/level II than risk having sonographers say the wrong gender... Google it- there are countless articles.
ETA- A skilled technician is also not just looking at the "nub"- although it's angle has been a proven way to decipher. There are also internal things going on- testicles/dropped or not as well as ovaries.

Re: Impact for gender determination.
I did it and they were correct. If you look at the pictures, there is no mistaking the body parts. I'm impatient and just had to know!!!
