Luteal Phase Defect???
If my progesterone seems fine, does that mean that my short luteal phase is caused by something else? Do I need Clomid instead? The Prometrium has lengthened my LP by 3 days, but my doctor said a few weeks ago that it doesn't mean that my Progesterone is low? If it's not low then why would the Prometrium work?

Re: Luteal Phase Defect???
I'm NOT a doctor.
With that said, I think a 14 is fine. When I had my progesterone checked, on the lab is said that anything btw a 4.4 and a 28 is normal, and over 10 being "good." A 14 puts you right in the middle. If that's what you're getting while taking Prometrium, then I'd say it's working.

Re: Luteal Phase Defect???
I have an LPD. My doctor just went over blood work this past friday. My progesterone is fine--actually great--until the day after it peaks. It's supposed to gradually come down (if an egg isn't implanted by then) and mine plummets. It was a 21 and then a 5 the next day. My dr, however, wants to give me a low dose of clomid rather than progesterone. Because my progesterone is normal in the beginning, he feels it's the egg quality that needs a little strengthening. A stronger corpus luteum will produce better progesterone.
But it does sound like you're in range, so the prometrium is helping. What is your LP with the prometrium?

Re: Luteal Phase Defect???
Thanks for the responses.
What I'm concerned with is the egg quality as well. I got a 14.1 with Prometrium. So if I wasn't on that what would it be? If it normally was 14.1 is the Prometrium really working? My LP was 9 days before the medicine and 12 days after taking Prometrium. It's definitely helped with that, but I'm not sure if that's really my problem? I just wasn't sure if there would be another problem causing my shorter luteal phase even though the Prometrium seems to be helping it. I think I said that right? I just thought being on the meds my Progesterone should be so much higher. The 14.1 is a normal number for someone not on meds.
