I love this comment in response to the people who were complaining that the article was biased:

You women are ridiculous. Its an internet article, for crying out loud. Quit your griping and go spend some time with those children that you are doing such a HUGE favor to by cosleeping/cribsleeping/wearing/eating/god knows what else. They don't give a crap what you do, they just want you to get off the computer and go play with them. do you think that when they grafuate high school they are going to say "and its all thanks to the fact that mom carried me in a sling instead of a babybjorn, and made sure all the other moms knew about it!'. And if you are setting such a great example for them by doing all that, what kind of example are you setting by sitting hunched over a keyboard for long enough to type out several paragraphs worth of clucking? You don't see people getting all worked up about consumer report's articles about cars, do you? 'how dare they say the turning radius is too wide in my VW. I am a wonderful corner-turner!'.
CR prints the findings of carefully controlled, lab based experiments. Bring all your baby-mama-drama back over to babycenter.com. You big old bunch of dorks.

As for the sling carrier- I don't mean to offend anyone who uses one- but those things freak me out. It always looks like the baby is so vulnerable to falling out or getting bumped by shoppers etc.

my mother gave me one with ds and it literally lasted 15 seconds.. i put it on, tried to put ds in it and dh told me absolutely not... he refuses to let me use it... i only used it at the zoo when he was 1 to help hold him on my hip (more like a seat) since i was hugely preg and he was 30 lbs

I agree it freaks me out the position they are in like it is bending their little necks/backs.

Thanks for posting. A lot of these things I was on the fence about. Especially the bumpers.

Re: Five Products NOT to buy for your baby.....

We use CR all the time, but I have to agree with some of the comments posted about the article. One particular brand has a small number of injuries or death and CR recommends staying away from all of them. To me, that doesn't make sense. I'm sure with most baby products, there have been reported injuries and recalls of at least one brand. I think it's good to make people aware of risks, but it's another thing to tell people to avoid a product entirely b/c of problems associated with one manufacturer.
