I live in Suffolk and am freaking out over thisChat Icon Granted I'm delivering at St. Catherine's, but if there are any complications with my pregnancy or the baby, my dr. sends you straight to Stony Brook and now we won't have that option. We use Stony Brook for everything. All our other dr.s are associated with them. Ugg, I'm so upset over this. Did this happen to anyone else and where do you go instead?Chat Icon

I have no advice to offer - I don't know hospitals out there - but Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon. In all likelihood, you won't need Stony Brook at all - sending positive vibes - Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Hopefully you won't need to have the baby transferred. But FYI no matter what insuarance you have the baby is automatically covered by medicaid (no matter how much $ you make or if you have no $) for the first 30 days. The baby isn't added onto your insurance until long after your home and the baby has a SS#. HTH Chat Icon

I am sure Stony Brook will negotiate with Aetna. SB dropped Empire a few months back, they negotiated and everything worked out fine. SB is the largest hospital in Suffolk County, and Aetna is a very large insurance company. For all the families out their with Aetna I am sure it will be resolved. Best of Luck!
