ugh I am so very sorry, especially that your MIL won't help out. 
Not that our situation is in any way similar, but when DH's brother's health deteriorated (he has MS, and it affects his mind, he also has mild OCD), his parents were sort of the same way (actually still are in some respects). They almost just don't want to spend time with him. We visited on Christmas....and they came up with all these excuses as to how long they would stay (can't leave the dogs for too long  ). DH and I spent the entire day with him. So sad to me...I guess we couldn't understand their pain, watching their own child deteriorate...yet what you are going through- ugh I wish she would put her own suffering aside and help YOU and your SON!!
I feel so much for you! I think you are AMAZING!!

Hang in there as best as u know how!! I really hope ur husband will be a candidate for the surgery and it will be a success. You and your family deserve happiness after all that you have been through. I will also keep u and ur family in my prayers!!!

I think about you and Jacob often. I am so incredibly sorry you are going through this type of pain. It's mind-boggling to me that you've essentially been dealing with this on your own. I hope like hell you get some relief soon.

You are so strong and from what it sounds like, doing the best job for your son!! I hope this surgery works and he recovers and your life goes back to normal again. Shame on his parents for not helping you, and him out by taking him for a few days. Who turns their back on their child for their own selfishness?!

I simply cannot imagine how difficult this must be and the array of emotions - sadness at the loss, anger at your husband and his family, helpless with the situation... what I DO know is that it sounds like you are handling this with the utmost grace under fire, even in those moments when you snap at DH... who wouldn't??? So many hugs and thoughts to you and little Jacob.

Your MIL should really be ashamed of herself. I'm sure it is hard to see her son like that, but she really needs to step up & help out. I hope that your DH gets approved for the surgery & that it works. And I hope the counseling helps you & Jacob. It sounds like you are doing an amazing job.

I just read about a case where the Dr. had tested the patient to rule out bacteria streptococcus as the cause of the severe OCD.
I'm sure with all the dr's you've seen, someone must have done bloodwork of this sort, but if there's the smallest chance it could help, I wanted to mention it.
