Anyone else's toddler rarely sit still, even during TV shows?
DD is 2.5 years old. She used to sit with DH or I, or by herself, and watch a show or two (usually getting up after 30-45 minutes or so to play). Over the last few weeks, the kid literally never sits still to watch a show...never! Maybe 20 minutes total during the day she'll actually sit, have a snack and watch a bit of a show, but she NEVER sits still for an entire 30-minute show anymore...she does like certain shows (Max & Ruby is her favorite), but it's like she's bored of the same old shows playing over & over. She just gets up, plays with all kinds of stuff, ignores the TV unless she hears something that catches her interest, she'll watch for a few minutes until it bores her, then she'll continue playing.
I read all about how lots of toddlers her age love movies-- the kid would NEVER sit still for even a 1/4 of a movie, even at home. I'm not concerned about her having a problem b/c she definitely CAN sit still and pay attention (we go to gymnastics every week, she sits very patiently), in the car she's fine, even on on longer trips, in the stroller she's fine, etc.
I'm just amazed that some kids will sit still and watch a movie!!!

Mine is not one of those children who sits still for a movie! He is a little more calm than he was 6 months ago and can actually sit for things that interest him (some TV shows, book reading, art projects, etc) but the rest of the time, he is in constant motion.
We did take him to see a puppet show at Macy's a few weeks ago though, and he surprised us by sitting through the whole thing! He was fascinated by the puppets, so he did watch it.

Yeah, that's true, DD definitely sits still during things she wants....arts projects she could spend hours doing, etc...I'm just amazed that the kid never sits still for a TV show anymore!

Maybe she isn't that interested in the shows at the moment? Don't know, just a thought.

True, that's what I'm thinking! I'd just LOVE for her to be content watching a show for a little bit each day so I could have some time to get stuff done, you know?
So cute that your DS sat still for the puppet show We've been to a few live shows and DD has loved it, guess it's much more interesting to her than TV.

Dd is like this-she sits enraptured for Frosty the Snowman (30 minutes), and a show on Nick Jr might keep her attention if it is the right show (Max and Ruby here too, Little Bear, Olivia), but after 20 minutes she is all over the place. I can't see her watching a movie-that amazes me about other kids.

DS CANNOT sit during a show. PERIOD!
Especially if it is one of his shows. He is too excited to stay in place.
We have an integration class every week. He is "learning" to sit in circle time....ie. mommy is holding him in his chair from behind him.

this is DS exactly Not a big fan of TV, also rather play, and do things etc. He will sit and build with legos or play with his trains and cars, so I know its not an attention issue. He literally turns the TV off when I have it on or will ask me not to put it on. I know i should be happy he's not a TV person, but I keep thinking when the new baby comes it would be nice to be able to put on a 30 minute show or a movie and have some time. The only movie he really likes right now is cars and even then he wont sit for most of it but at least he will leave it on in the background LOL
