When to start TTC...advice please!!!

Hi Ladies,
I am new to this and this is my first post! I need advice! I am 25 years old and got married in July '09. I have big time baby fever! I feel like it's all I can think about. I am a teacher and love kids, I have dreamed about having my own for so long. DH and I own our house and its pretty big, too big for just us. I keep thinking about TTC, but I have always thought that I would be doing it with my friends. They are not even close...some are dating, some in serious relationships...none married...all still living at home with parents.

So here's what I'm looking for:

- how did you know you were ready?

- is 25 too young? should I wait? so many women experience problems these days TTC and I want a few kids...I'm scared about having difficulty TTC.

- Am I just baby crazy because we are still newly married (6months)? Should I allow time to adjust?

Only you know when you are ready...I am a firm believer that there is never a "right" time to have a baby...only the right time for you! 25 certainly isn't too young. Follow your heart! If you are ready then go for it! (oh ya and DH should be ready too )

Baby fever doesnt strike all newleyweds (or all people, for that matter). Some women want time to adjust to marriage, while others start TTC on their honeymoon. There's not an age restriction on TTC - it's more about whether the time is right for you and your DH. (You didn't wait for your friends to get married to take the plunge, did you?) You have no way of knowing how long TTC will take. There are 20-somethings on the infertility board, and 40-somethings that get preggo if their husbands sneeze on them. It's kind of a crapshoot. Talk to your husband, and see what he thinks. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I don't think we'll ever be 'ready' we just both want kids, and we don't want to be 60 pushing a stroller.

I don't think 25 is too young. Many people are a lot younger and do an amazing job of having and raising kids. I don't think infertility is a bigger problem now than before, I think we are just more knowledgeable about it.

I'm 25 married for a little over 6 months and live in a 1 bedroom apartment and we are ttc.

None of my friends are close to getting married and while I thought everything would happen around the same time for all of us, I seem to be ahead of the game!

Only you and your DH know when you are ready. Talk it out and I'm sure you will find your answer

All of the girls have given great advice, and it's true-only you and DH know when you're ready.

My advice-make sure you have achieved everything you wanted to achieve in terms of career, finances, traveling, etc, because a baby is going to make achieving those targets alot more challenging.

For me, my career started taking off at 25, and by the time I turned 27 I landed my dream job. I didn't meet DH till 28.
At 30 years old, and almost 31, I feel like now I could give that all up and dedicate 100% to our children when we have them. But I couldn't have at 25. Just some food for thought.

Its true what everyone is saying, it really is up to you and your DH to know when the right time is. If you and him are on the same page then that is what matters. You seem to have alot of things going for you right now. You have a house a good job and you love kids Im not saying of course that you need all that to have a baby but I just mean if you feel that you are ready then thats great! I always wanted to have children I mean always lol and now that I am married and have a house I cant wait! Im also 32 but if I had all that by the time I was 25 I would definitely have had a baby then, but thats me. Everyone is different. You'll know what to do, kinda like when you knew DH was the "one" you'll know when the time is right. Good luck! Oh and P.S. I always wanted to have kids with my sisters and friends and now I have 17 nieces and nephews, alot of my friends have kids so you cant wait for everyone else. I would have loved to have been pregnant together but it wasnt the right time for me.....hopefully it wil be soon!

Don't worry about everyone else- only you can know when you are ready! I'm NOT TTC right now, but I just wanted to share my experience.

I had my first (unplanned) at 18. We got married 2 years later. I had major baby fever. None of my friends were married at the time, let alone having kids. We waited 3 months & then started TTC. It took a few months bc I had a miscarriage in there. In April I delivered my DS at 21 years old.

So if you're ready, go for it! Don't let anybody tell you you're too young or you have to enjoy marriage if that's not what the both of you want. Everybody is ready at different times. Good luck!

Honestly nobody can really decide these things but you. 25 is too young if YOU think it is. How do YOU feel about all this?

On a personal note, I am 25 and we're TTC We will be married for 2 years this spring and moving to a house next month. We feel that for us, this is the right time.

If you are having all these misgivings right now over being ready it's likely you're not yet! When you are ready, you will know! Also, you and DH both have to be on board for this when you start trying! I was ready as soon as we got back from the islands on our honeymoon DH however wanted to enjoy married life for a while and have me all to himself! A year and a half later we decide it was time......

I hope you and your DH could come to a decision you're both happy with!!!

ETA: I am the first of my friends to TTC too!! (that I know of at least!)

Thanks everyone!! I think I'm going to come off BC and see what my cycles are like...I've been on BC for the past 7 years. DH had a long talk about it, even though its been discussed a lot lately...we are going to see what happens, but really wait till June/July to start really trying.
