On Clomid - CD18 and I didn't O

Hey Ladies, This month has been my first round on Clomid and my doc started me at 50mg. Should I have already O'd by CD18?? Do I still have a shot? I would really be heartbroken if this whole month was a waste. If I don't get AF by CD28-30, I will have to start Provera/Clomid again.. I'm running out of time! Chat Icon

don't get discouraged yet! Last month was my 1st month on Clomid and I didn't O until day 24.

They first spotted a follie at day 20 so don;t give up hope yet. It was kind of a bust in my eyes since I got AF 13 days later but I did O.

Onto month 2 for me

Are you on Provera AND Clomid? I don't get AF on my own, so there's no way of me knowing if I'm out for the month or not. I'd have to take Provera to get AF, but I don't want to do that until I know that I O'd and it didn't work for us this month. I just don't want to take Provera too soon and really mess up the month, but my doc told me that on CD28-30, my cycle should be over (since it's an artificial/drug induced AF) and I should take Provera again. SO confusing!!!

i didnt O on 50mg of clomid. i had one 14mm follie that didnt mature. my RE decided by CD20 that i wasnt progressing and i took provera and moved on.

im guessing you arent being monitored by your doc? do you have PCOS?
if you find you dont O this cycle i would recommend seeing an RE or an ob/gyn that will monitor your progress.

But dont be distraught if you didnt O on 50mg, a lot of people are poor responders at the lowest dose.

I too took 50mg of Clomid this cycle and I am on CD27 and no "O". The RE put me back on Clomid again yesterday, this time 100mg, and I am going in for a sono and blood work on Wed. so hopefully I will see some progress then. Fingers crossed. Good luck!!

FYI - I imagine your doctor did blood work but if not, request they check your estrogen levels. If your levels are low or not increasing a lot from visit to visit it's a good indicator that you won't ovulate this cycle. That is why my RE had me start Clomid again. My estrogen levels were only at 70 and hadn't changed from the last visit and they need to be over 200 to ovulate.

BTW.............the RE didn't start me on Provera. They said they don't need to bring on AF to start another cycle. I just started the Clomid again on CD26 and I am going back to the RE 3 days after I finish the Clomid to see what's up. I was surprised but the doctor said bringing on AF is not a must to move on.

I always O'd late on Clomid.

Is your Dr. monitoring you? If not they should be doing blood work and sonograms to check for signs of ovulation (LH surge/estrogen levels/follicle size, etc)

Often times OPKs will not be accurate with Clomid or if you have PCOS.

Oh ok, sounds like it's common to O later on Clomid.. that's a relief! I have a follow-up appt with my OB/GYN on Tuesday to discuss how the first cycle went. I think he just wanted to see how my body would react to the meds. I'm seriously going to ask that for the next cycle, that he monitor me fairly closely just so I know how if/how my body is adjusting.

I do have PCOS with absent periods, and he did mention increasing my dosage if the 50mg didn't work to 100mg and all the way up to 200mg if nothing else worked. If the 200mg doesn't make me O, he will be putting me on Metformin and I really don't want it to have to come to that. I haven't seen an RE yet, and really wanted the Provera/Clomid to jumpstart me, but if after he increases my dosage, I don't see any progression, I will absolutely have to visit a RE. Can you recommend yours? Thanks SO much!!

My OB/GYN did blood work at the time he proscribed the Provera/Clomid, and will probably do so again on Tuesday when I go in for my follow-up. I LOVE my OB/GYN and was hoping that he would be able to help me along, but I really think that I need to see an RE. Can you recommend yours? Thank you SO much, I really appreciate it!!!

My doctor hasn't really been monitoring me, but I do have a follow-up on Tuesday. Has your OB/GYN or RE been mornitoring you closely? See, I haven't seen a RE yet, and I feel like that would be my best bet.

Really?? This post has seriously been an eye-opener for me.. My doc told me to use OPKs! Oye - I have LOTS of questions to ask on Tuesday!

Thank YOU!

Re: On Clomid - CD18 and I didn't O

I have PCOS and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is basically that my thyroid doesnt work. I have VERY VERY long cycles (sometimes over 60 days).

I have never seen an RE, but my OB/GYN specializes in fertility issues

Good Luck!!

After my 2nd month on Clomid and it being unsuccessful, I didn't want to waste any more time and went right to the RE. In retrospect, I should have gone straight to the RE and not wasted any time period with my OB.

DH and I had other issues, so Clomid didn't work for me in the end anyway. But it turned out my OB was doing the IUI's too early because I wasn't being monitored and I was Oing much later than when the IUI's were done. What a waste.....

Even the RE had me use OPKs along with monitoring, but when I was with them my first month I got a +OPK on CD13, went in the next morning and my ovaries were quiet as could be, no growth and my hormone levels were the same as they were in the beginning of my cycle. So they told me no more OPKs. As it was, I ended up NOT surging until CD24 that cycle.

I was surprised too!! I thought I would have to go through a whole AF cycle with Provera which would be so annoying. My RE said there wasn't a need. I am thinking it's because I have 3 eggs (10mm, 11mm, and 12mm) already and they hope the Clomid will just stimulate those eggs to continue to mature so I can trigger and have my IUI. Guess I will find out if it worked on Wed!!

I go to Reproductive Specialists of NY. (Stony Brook office) They also have an office in Mineola and Islip. I primarily see Dr. San Roman who I absolutely love!!

Good luck with everything!!! Chat Icon

Re: On Clomid - CD18 and I didn't O

You can still ovulate late on Clomid. I didn't ovulate until somewhere around day 30 - an improvement from prior cycles without Clomid actually - but I agree that you should be monitored. Ask you OB to take a look - an ultrasound may show that you're just late this month - or seek out an RE for next time.
