Would you see an RE?

I have had 2 missed miscarriages this year. (by missed m/c I mean baby was growing and had a HB then suddenly demised) One was at 7 weeks the other was at 9.

My OB thinks it was just bad luck twice. He is going to do blood work and I am having the embryo tested that they removed from this last d&c.

So my question, should I still contact an RE? Will they do more tests that my OB wont? Maybe they will dig a little deeper? I dont have a problem getting pregnant (thankfully) so I want to start trying again as soon as I physically can but obviously I am PETRIFIED this is going to happen again. On the contrary, if it is just bad luck, odds are it wont happen again.

What would you do? TIA for the feedback!! Chat Icon

Re: Would you see an RE?

If it was me, I think I would probably still call an RE. Like you, I would be petrified of the same thing happening again, and I think and RE would probably do more extensive blood work and testing than your regular OB. For example, I have heard that Dr. Braverman specializes in recurrent losses, and I think he does a pretty extensive workup (as I'm sure most other RE's do). I think I would be more comfortable moving forward if I knew more about why this might be happening, kwim?

Could you wait and see what your OB says after you get the results of the testing done on the embryo? I wonder if that would give you any answers? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would wait after the blood work results are back and the embyro test results. Then go from there. I can't imagine what you went though...hopefully three's a charm!

I would def. go see an RE ... if it were me. I wouldnt want the same thing to keep happening or maybe an RE can do more testing and see whats going on. They specialize in that field and would have more experience in that sense. I hope this doesnt happen again and you get a BFP with a healthy pregnancy soon!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i would RUN to an RE, dr. braverman in particular since i hear he specializes in recurrent miscarriages.

especially since you are now nervous for next time - an RE will give you more monitoring and therapies to avoid it happening again. an ob/gyn just doesnt specialize in that type of care. i really think you will feel more comfortable in the care of an RE.
